Previously, SGGP Newspaper published an article "Key medical projects are sluggish: Hospitals are waiting for transfers", reflecting the current situation, the dormitory building of Cao Thang Technical College (located next to the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital) is seriously degraded, affecting the hospital's operations as well as causing insecurity for patients.
While the project to build a new hospital has not been implemented for too long; the leaders of the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital have sent a document requesting to receive the house and land assets from the Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (which has moved to a new facility in Binh Chanh District) at 201 Pham Viet Chanh Street, Nguyen Cu Trinh Ward, District 1, to serve the needs of patient care and limit the overload situation at the facility in District 5.
This solution is supported by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.
On August 4, the Department of Health sent a document to the Department of Finance regarding the transfer of real estate and land at 201 Pham Viet Chanh Street, District 1.
On September 21, at a regular press conference organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Tran Phu, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance, said that in September 2023, the unit will complete the procedures for transferring and handing over assets from the Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital (land at 201 Pham Viet Chanh Street, District 1) to the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital. At the same time, the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital is required to conduct a survey and develop a plan for renovation and repair.
However, on October 12, the Department of Finance sent an urgent document to the Department of Health informing that the land plot at 201 Pham Viet Chanh Street, District 1 has a land area of 890.8m2 and a floor area of 1,632m2 , managed by the Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital (facility 2). Since 2013, the Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital has had a certificate of land use rights, house ownership rights and other assets attached to the land issued by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society, this land previously belonged to the Red Cross infirmary (No. 201 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Nguyen Cu Trinh Ward, District 1). In 1977, the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society was established and was assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to manage this land as its headquarters. The land was then divided in half at the request of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and loaned to the Department of Health to build a Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital to serve the treatment and accommodation of patients.
From 2011 to 2013, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued instructions related to the establishment of an investment project to build a new headquarters of the Red Cross Society, including the area of the current society and the area currently used by the Blood Transfusion - Hematology Hospital.
On October 18, facing the above situation , Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc signed a document requesting the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the City Police, District 5 People's Committee and related units to plan to work with the school to completely resolve the current situation of the degraded dormitory building of Cao Thang Technical College; at the same time, assign the Department of Health to continue to monitor and support the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital to implement measures to ensure operational safety and smooth and continuous medical examination and treatment.
