Accordingly, the People's Committee decided to change the purpose of use of more than 2.5 hectares of protective forest to other purposes to implement the Phuoc An Bridge Project. The forest area with changed purpose includes part of 33 forest lots in plot 3, sub-area 223 in Phuoc An commune, Nhon Trach district, managed by the Long Thanh Protective Forest Management Board.
Previously, at the 16th Session of the 10th Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Council passed a Resolution on the decision to change the purpose of using this forest area to implement the Phuoc An Bridge Project.
Phuoc An Bridge project connecting Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai) with Phu My town ( Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) has a total length of more than 4.3km with a total investment of nearly 4.9 trillion VND. Phuoc An Bridge is expected to be completed and put into operation in the 2021-2025 period.
Phuoc An Bridge is of great significance in connecting the Ben Luc - Long Thanh; Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with Cai Mep - Thi Vai port area, helping to transport goods from the Mekong Delta and neighboring areas to Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster and vice versa.
The construction of Phuoc An Bridge will connect traffic, promote and facilitate socio -economic development in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai provinces in particular and the Southeast region in general. Connect the seaport system of Ba Ria - Vung Tau - Dong Nai - Ho Chi Minh City; share and reduce the overloaded traffic volume on National Highway 51.
