Hoa Sen Inter-level School

The school is very different.

Hoa Sen School, a multi-level school belonging to Hoa Sen Vietnam Education Development Co., Ltd., is located in the center of the Northeast New Urban Area (K1 area), Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province. The school boasts facilities and a teaching staff that meet the standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training. Classrooms are designed to be spacious and airy, equipped with modern equipment. Functional rooms such as: computer lab, electronic library, practical science lab, music and art lab, multi-purpose gymnasium, three football fields exclusively for students, a swimming pool, transportation, boarding facilities, and a large experimental vegetable garden... meet the teaching and learning needs of both teachers and students. Each class has two teachers (one Vietnamese and one English) to support bilingual learning; each teacher is responsible for supervising and caring for 15 students in class and extracurricular activities. Each week, the school allocates two lessons per class for students to practice pronunciation and communicate with native English-speaking teachers.

In addition to regular enrollment, Hoa Sen School accepts orphaned children, children of martyrs, and children from extremely disadvantaged families, providing them with free meals and education. The school also established a "2,000 VND Smile" rice restaurant to serve the poor and maintained programs to build houses for the poor as part of its ongoing activities. In previous years, the school stipulated that "Students who cannot swim will not advance to the next grade," but now this has been expanded to include preschool children in learning to swim.

Currently, the Hoa Sen School system has 6 educational facilities from preschool to high school, but the school consistently says "no" to having a canteen on campus. According to the school's management, the reason for not having a canteen on campus is to ensure that students are treated equally in their daily lives. There are virtually no instances of students bringing mobile phones or riding large-displacement motorcycles to school.

The goal is for teachers to come to school 4 days a week.

The four-day work week is becoming a global trend, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected not only businesses but also the education sector. In previous years, primary school teachers in the public education system worked five to six days a week. However, at Hoa Sen School, all levels of education only have a five-day school week. Students mainly attend half-day classes, with 100% attending two sessions per day. Teachers not only teach in the classroom but also tutor and guide students in their daily routines, including meals, rest, and participation in all extracurricular activities. Through surveys, the Hoa Sen School administration found that teachers, in addition to teaching, also have to take care of household chores, and many show signs of stress, exhaustion, and fatigue, significantly impacting the quality of their professional work. Therefore, right from the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, the school's management board implemented a policy for all primary school teachers to work only 4 days a week. Through this implementation, the school found that this policy has been generally effective; most teachers have maintained a balance between work and life, and the quality of teaching has improved significantly. Lawyer Le Nguyen Le Vi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Sen Vietnam Education Development Co., Ltd., stated that applying the 4-day week policy for primary school teachers has helped improve teachers' health and significantly boosted their physical and mental well-being. "We will soon evaluate and apply this policy long-term to the entire Hoa Sen inter-level school system," Mr. Le Vi added.

According to Ms. Ly Thi Thu Suong, Principal of Hoa Sen Inter-level School, applying a four-day-a-week teaching schedule for primary school teachers not only improves teachers' physical and mental well-being but also shows positive signs in teaching quality and student learning outcomes. "Reduced working hours will impact teachers' happiness and satisfaction. This model helps improve teachers' engagement with their work, students, and the school," Ms. Thu Suong explained.

If you want to know more about the school, please ask your parents.

"For information about the school, please ask parents whose children are currently enrolled," reads the message displayed on the website of the Hoa Sen Inter-level School system. With the motto "Hoa Sen students say no to extra tutoring," the school's administration prioritizes teaching and learning at school, especially the development of life skills through extracurricular programs both within and outside the province. The number of students in the Hoa Sen Inter-level School system increases rapidly each year, and enrollment has almost reached the capacity for the first-year primary school classes.

Box: In 2021, Hoa Sen Vietnam Education Development Co., Ltd. was one of the few companies from Ninh Thuan province among the top 200 businesses nationwide to receive the Golden Star of Vietnam award organized by the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association. Lawyer Le Nguyen Le Vi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Sen Vietnam Education Development Co., Ltd., was awarded the Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Award - Red Star Award 2022. For four consecutive years, Hoa Sen Inter-level School received commendations from the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee.
