Binh Dinh Club has a new name

Binh Dinh Club will participate in the 2025-2026 first division season under the name Quy Nhon United, after the team's proposal was approved by the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee. Thus, the name Binh Dinh will no longer exist on the map of Vietnamese football, after Binh Dinh province merges and becomes a part of Gia Lai province.

This is the fourth name change of the team from the land of Vo since the 2021 season. Four years ago, the team was named Topenland Binh Dinh, after being sponsored by a large enterprise. In September 2023, the team changed its name to Quy Nhon Binh Dinh, then changed its name to Merryland Quy Nhon Binh Dinh to compete in the 2023 - 2024 V-League. In the 2024 - 2025 season, the team returned to the name Quy Nhon Binh Dinh, and now will be named Quy Nhon United.

Quy Nhon United will compete in the 2025 - 2026 first division. The Central representative is led by coach Trinh Duy Quang, with the goal of promotion to return to the V-League. "I myself am a son of the land of Vo, so when I return to my homeland, I will try my best with the team. I intend to build a squad with Binh Dinh (former) players as the core, in addition, arranging additional players from HAGL Club to reinforce the squad, trying to shape the team's playing style with its own identity, attracting fans", coach Trinh Duy Quang affirmed.

Last season, Quy Nhon United was relegated after a 17-game winless streak. Although coach Tran Minh Chien was appointed at the last minute, he could not save the situation. This season, Quy Nhon United is determined to do it again.

Continuing to play in the Vietnamese professional football system is a great encouragement, in the context that at the end of last season the whole team was still confused about the future.

Along with the name change, Quy Nhon United has said goodbye to a number of faces, such as goalkeeper Nguyen Hoai Anh, central defender Truong Van Thiet, Luc Xuan Hung, defender Duong Van Khoa, midfielder Pham Duc Huy, Mac Hong Quan or striker Ngo Hong Phuoc, Vu Minh Tuan. Only a few pillars of last season did not leave, notably midfielder Cao Van Trien, who refused many attractive offers to stay, with Quy Nhon United finding a way back to V-League.
