Austrian fan hospitalized after rare incident at Euro 2024

According to the Mirror , an Austrian fan was taken to a hospital in Berlin (Germany) after falling from the stands while celebrating his team's goal against Poland in the second match of Group D of Euro 2024 on the evening of June 21 (Vietnam time).

Accordingly, this fan fell from a high place in the mixed stands during the match at Olympiastadion. An ambulance quickly appeared to take the fan to the hospital in a serious condition.

"The stands became quiet after the Austrian fans celebrated wildly. The reason was a serious medical emergency. It seems that an Austrian fan fell in the stands. We were unable to follow the incident closely," ARD presenter Alexander Bommes explained the situation.

Returning to the field, the Austrian team surprisingly defeated Poland 3-1 to win the first 3 points at Euro 2024, opening up the opportunity to win a ticket to the round of 16.

Defender Gernot Trauner got off to the perfect start for Austria with a goal after nine minutes, but Krzysztof Piątek levelled things up for Poland in the 34th minute. However, second-half duo Christoph Baumgartner and Marko Arnautovic scored in turn to seal a 3-1 win for Austria.

Speaking after the match, former Man Utd manager Ralf Rangnick said: "Since I have been a coach for Austria, it was the most important game and that is why I am very happy not only with the result but also with the performance. We played well for a long time and controlled the second half."

Meanwhile, this defeat makes Poland the first team to be eliminated from Euro 2024, when they are 4 points behind the two leading teams, the Netherlands and France. The "White Eagles" are 3 points behind the Austrian team and have lost the head-to-head index with only one group stage match left.
