A surprise happened at the District 8 stadium when speed queen Tran Thi Nhi Yen only finished second after athlete Hoang Thi Anh Thuc. Nhi Yen's result was 24 seconds 18 while Anh Thuc's result was 24 seconds 176.
Hoang Thi Anh Thuc, born in 2005 in Phan Dien commune, Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan province, made her mark with a gold medal in the 400m distance at the 2022 U.18 Asian Championship. In 2023, Anh Thuc will participate in the Asian Championship in her specialty of 400m. At this Thong Nhat Speed Cup, Anh Thuc will not compete in her specialty of 400m but in the 200m distance and create a shock when she defeated a series of bright faces in this distance such as Tran Thi Nhi Yen and Ha Thi Thu.

Sharing about her achievements at the 2025 Thong Nhat Speed Cup, Tran Thi Nhi Yen said that because she had just returned from an injury, her goal was to regain her competitive spirit and increase her endurance, not focusing too much on achievements.

Meanwhile, after the 400m gold medal, Quach Thi Lan won another gold medal in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.38 seconds, confirming her position as the number 1 athlete in her favorite distance. At the 33rd SEA Games in December, Quach Thi Lan will be the main force of Vietnamese women's athletics in the 400m, 400m hurdles, and 4x400m relay events.
