Meeting her Korean boyfriend through a dating app, Ton Thao never expected that it would be her destined love.
Recently, videos of a Korean guy, Kim Seung, speaking cute Vietnamese and having many super funny conversations with his "future mother-in-law" have been shared by many young people on social networks.
The boy born in 1990 has a bright appearance, a bright smile and a cute voice. Seung said he has studied Vietnamese in Vietnam for many years, currently lives in Seoul (Korea) and has a Vietnamese girlfriend, Ton Thi Thao.
With the support of his girlfriend, the two filmed many super funny clips, making people laugh and attracting attention. Not only that, Seung and Ton Thao's love story also has interesting details.
Make friends and then fall in love
More than 3 years ago, Kim Seung and Ton Thi Thao, a girl born in 1997 ( Ha Tinh ), met each other through a social networking chat application.
At that time, Kim Seung was studying Vietnamese, living and working in Da Nang . Listening to a Vietnamese friend, Seung used a chat app to make more Vietnamese friends. And he accidentally saw Thao because they were sitting close together, so he took the initiative to text her to get to know her.
Thao met Kim Seung - a Korean guy through a friend-finding app on social networks.
However, at that time, Thao only used the app due to the nature of her work and was not very fond of making foreign friends on it. Having heard many senior colleagues complain about bad relationships on social networks, Thao did not respond to Kim Seung's message.
Seung himself was also teased by some girls on the messaging app, so he decided to delete the app.
She thought it was just a meaningless relationship with no results. But Thao did not expect that this chance encounter would be the bridge of love between the two later on.
"A year later, Seung accidentally saw Thao while using Facebook. He looked up Thao's personal page and decided to message her again. Instead of texting her in English like last time, he used Vietnamese," Thao said.
Because she could learn about Seung on Facebook and found him to be quite gentle, friendly, and had many Vietnamese friends learning Korean, Thao decided to get to know him. Thao's initial goal was to improve her foreign language skills.
Both had a tearful time in a long distance relationship.
From then on, the two started texting and meeting at a coffee shop. On the first day they met, they talked for 6 hours because they found each other quite compatible. But both Thao and Seung thought that they would just stop at being friends studying foreign languages.
After that, meeting each other quite often made Seung develop feelings and decided to conquer Thao. The gentleness, thoughtfulness, and politeness of the Korean guy made the Vietnamese girl "fall" without realizing it.
Since they fell in love, Seung has always given Thao good things.
Thao said: "The most memorable memory was when we were in a long-distance relationship. In 2019, Seung opened a Tokbokki restaurant with his friend. The restaurant was very crowded but his visa application was not approved and the restaurant was also heavily fined. He had to return to his country and then come back to Vietnam.
At that time, we both cried a lot. When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out for the second time, Seung went to the airport to return home. I saw him off in tears. When he returned home, he called me every day. Because I missed him, I cried all the time, couldn't eat, and lost a lot of weight."
The two support each other in language and are now both fluent in Vietnamese and Korean.
What Thao remembers most is her boyfriend's romantic proposal to her.
"That day, he asked me out, dressed nicely to take pictures. He took me to the proposal location and said he wanted to marry me. That situation made me extremely emotional. The video he made and the letter he wrote touched my emotions. All the hardships, happiness, laughter and tears were wrapped up in that moment. I will never forget it," Thao shared.
Boyfriend's mother "approved" on the first phone call
When they first fell in love, Thao's family did not support the relationship. Her parents were worried about their youngest daughter, fearing that she would suffer if she married far away. Even Seung's parents did not like their son loving a Vietnamese girl. The great geographical distance caused many obstacles in their love and future plans.
"After Seung visited his hometown Ha Tinh with me in August 2022, my parents gradually accepted him because they saw that he was kind and loved me. Now my parents love him very much and always tell me not to bully Seung," Thao said.
As for Seung's parents, although they didn't like their foreign daughter-in-law, after watching Thao's New Year's greeting video in Korean, they liked this girl.
Although Seung's mother doesn't like her son dating a foreign girlfriend, she accepted Thao the first time they talked via video.
"His mother showed the video to her relatives and called me on video. The first time she met me in person, she liked me even more. Seeing that I spoke Korean quite well, Seung's parents were no longer worried much," Thao shared.
Currently, Thao is a second-year master's student in Seoul (Korea), so she has a lot of time to be close to her boyfriend.
Because both of us can use both Vietnamese and Korean languages flexibly, we always support each other in life and work. “We plan to hold our wedding ceremony next spring, which is also the time I graduate with my master’s degree. We will also carry out some business projects in Vietnam in the near future,” Thao confided.
Thao and Seung's love is widely shared on social networks. In particular, the cuteness of the Korean guy Seung is admired by many young people.
The couple plan to get married next spring.
“At first, we planned to make a video and post it online for fun, but we didn’t expect to receive so much positive feedback. Seung was also very happy. Because of everyone’s trust, we will make more good and interesting videos to post,” Thao shared.
