The incident happened on May 9, during the second semester Geography exam for grade 8 at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School. Camera footage showed a male student sitting at the front desk looking down at a piece of paper pulled from his pocket. The female teacher discovered it, walked down from the podium, and slapped the male student twice on the cheek.

Working with the police, the teacher said she slapped the student because she was upset about him using the documents. When the school asked her to apologize to the student’s family, she refused.

The school can even let him repeat the class if he does poorly," said the boy's mother.

Currently, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School has not yet decided on any form of disciplinary action against the teacher and the male student in the incident. Previously, the school representative said that the male student who cheated could have his exam score deducted and his conduct grade reduced by one level.
