By 10am, the South and Ho Chi Minh City were still drizzling, with some places having very heavy rain. According to data recorded by 9am, the rainfall in Cu Chi reached over 225.6mm, Duc Hoa 125mm, Ben Cat 112mm, La Nga 152.2mm, Thu Duc 114mm, Di An 100.8mm, So Sao 118.2mm, Pham Van Coi 113.8mm, Thuan An 108mm.

Thu Duc Market and many streets in Ho Chi Minh City were heavily flooded after heavy rain early in the morning.

Very heavy rain, concentrated in the Southeast provinces, Ho Chi Minh City and part of Long An province bordering the Southeast.

The Southern and Central Highlands Hydrometeorological Station said the cause of the heavy rain was a low pressure trough in the Northwest - Southeast direction with an axis through the North and the South East Sea area gradually becoming stronger. The Southwest wind has an average intensity.

This weather system usually causes rain in the late afternoon and evening, but sometimes it rains in the early morning. Rainfall depends on the activity and interactions between systems, creating small-scale disturbances. When the conditions (temperature and humidity) reach saturation, heavy rain will occur.

More specifically, this morning's rain is a combination of low-level southwesterly winds pushing moisture in from the sea and a trough (a trough whose axis is roughly parallel to the Earth's longitude). The two weather patterns interact to cause disturbances.

From today to May 14, rain will increase in area and volume. Showers and thunderstorms will occur in many places, some areas will have moderate to heavy rain. Rain will decrease in the following days but will still rain heavily. During thunderstorms, be on guard against strong gusts of wind, whirlwinds, lightning, and hail.
