Rare animal appears in the middle of the road, Quang Tri people handle it unexpectedly

When faced with endangered wildlife, Quang Tri people made the right choice: protect it and hand it over to the authorities.

The python was about 1 meter long, weighed about 1.5 kg and was in stable health. The person who handed it over was Doan Tien Dung (born in 1992, residing in Tien Phong village, Nam Ba Don commune). According to Dung, on the evening of November 2, on his way home from work, he discovered and caught a python crawling near a residential area. Photo: Nguoi lao dong.

The scientific name of the ground python is Python bivittatus. According to Circular 27/2025/TT-BNNMT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , the ground python is an endangered, precious, and rare forest animal belonging to Group IIB, and is restricted from exploitation and use for commercial purposes.
