The identities and nationalities of the foreign climbers have not been officially released, but according to local media, three are American citizens, one Canadian and one Italian.

Rescuers reached the scene by road. A rescue helicopter was deployed but bad weather forced it to turn back.

The weather in Nepal has worsened since last week, with several snowstorms hitting the mountains.

Yalung Ri Mountain is 5,600 meters high and is considered a mountain for beginners who have no experience in high mountain climbing.
