According to Decision No. 258/QD-CAT-CSGT dated April 22, 2025 of the Director of Tien Giang Provincial Police, the exam will be held over 2 days (April 25 and 26, 2025) with the participation of 400 candidates. This is the first round of testing after the task of state management of driving licenses was transferred to the police force.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Da, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department - Tien Giang Police, said that the transfer of the task of testing and granting driving licenses from the Department of Transport to the Provincial Police (Traffic Police Department) was carried out based on Circular No. 12/2025/TT-BCA of the Ministry of Public Security and guiding documents of the Traffic Police Department.

“Tien Giang Provincial Police have completed the legal basis, technological infrastructure and connection to organize driving tests in the province. After this first test, we will have a meeting to review experiences and organize the next tests to create favorable conditions for people to have a driving license. Regarding the car driving test, Tien Giang Provincial Police will urgently organize it in May 2025. The conditions to prepare for car testing have also been basically completed,” added Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Da.

At the opening ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Dung, Head of the Traffic Police Department, emphasized the importance of the exam; at the same time, required examiners to work with a high sense of responsibility, seriously, and not to make mistakes during the examination and issuance of driving licenses.

Lieutenant Colonel Dung also clarified that the purpose of the test is to test and re-evaluate the knowledge that the students have previously been trained in, to ensure that they are qualified to be granted a Driver's License according to the law. In particular, candidates are required to be calm and confident during the test to ensure that the test is safe and without incidents.

According to regulations, candidates taking the exam must take 2 parts: Theory and driving skills in pictures. For the theory part, candidates must answer 25 questions on the computer within 19 minutes and must get at least 21/25 correct answers (with 1 failing question). The driving skills test in pictures is done within 10 minutes, requiring candidates to get 80/100 points.

Mr. Le Tung Lam, Director of the Driver Training and Testing Center under Tien Giang Automobile Joint Stock Company, said that this facility has the capacity to test about 400 students/day. In addition to the main facility, the company also has 2 training and testing facilities in Go Cong City and Cai Lay Town.
