Ho Chi Minh City police arrest 3 people who created the YouTube channel 'The Messenger' that distorts politics

On June 4, Ho Chi Minh City Police said that the police investigation agency had initiated a case, prosecuted and temporarily detained Le Van Can (59 years old, residing in Can Tho City), Nguyen Duc Minh (24 years old, residing in An Giang ) and Nguyen Hoang Tan (27 years old, residing in Vinh Long Province) to investigate the crime of "abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the rights and legitimate interests of organizations and individuals".

Through cyberspace monitoring, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (PA05) discovered that the YouTube channel system "The Messenger" from March 2024 to present, using tricks and methods to attract curiosity, has disseminated more than 6,700 video clips with negative and distorted content aimed at individuals and organizations in the political system, as well as the Party's policies and the State's laws.

The YouTube channel has attracted nearly 2 million followers, with over 1 billion views, and the number of people who have illegally profited more than 10 billion VND. This behavior has negatively affected public opinion and disrupted social order and safety.

Using professional measures, PA05 quickly verified and clarified the group of administrators, at the same time disabled the "Messenger" channel system and coordinated with the City Police Investigation Agency Office (PC01) to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain the above 3 accused.

Regarding the role, Le Van Can was identified as the leader, Nguyen Duc Minh and Nguyen Hoang Tan both played a supporting role in editing and designing the video .

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City Police are continuing to investigate and expand the case to strictly handle it according to the provisions of the law.
