Dak Nong province's planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, emphasizes that industry is the driving force for growth, making Dak Nong the national bauxite - aluminum and post-aluminum industrial center.

Dak Nong strives to have an average annual industrial production index increase of 20% by 2030. The locality will focus on investing in completing the value chain of bauxite - alumina - aluminum production, after aluminum; becoming the national aluminum industrial center.

To achieve this goal, in the short term, Dak Nong will invest in developing the alumina production industry based on the effective exploitation of bauxite resources towards completing the bauxite - alumina - aluminum value chain.

In fact, after many difficulties and obstacles, it is expected that in the second quarter of 2026, Dak Nong will have its first aluminum product invested by Tran Hong Quan Metallurgy Company Limited. The project has a total area of ​​129.42 hectares in Nhan Co Industrial Park (Dak R'lap).

The project has a capacity of 450,000 tons of aluminum per year, divided into 3 phases. Each phase has a capacity of 150,000 tons of aluminum per year, with a total investment of nearly 1 billion USD.

If successful, this will be Vietnam’s first aluminum metal production project. This is also the final production and deep processing stage of the bauxite mining - alumina processing and aluminum metal production industrial chain.

According to the investor's commitment, by the second quarter of 2026 Dak Nong will have its first aluminum product.

The project, once operational, will make a huge contribution to the local economy , first and foremost to the state budget. According to Acting Director of the Department of Finance Tran Dinh Ninh, this is a major project, raising many expectations for Dak Nong in the future.

In fact, currently, each year, Nhan Co Alumina Factory alone contributes 400 - 500 billion VND to the state budget. On average, revenue from this project accounts for about 15 - 20% of the state budget.

“When the aluminum electrolysis project comes into operation and produces products, the contribution to Dak Nong’s budget will be many times higher. In the first months of 2024 alone, the revenue from importing machinery and equipment from the factory has contributed hundreds of billions of VND to Dak Nong,” Mr. Ninh emphasized.

In the period of 2021 - 2025, Dak Nong strives to collect a budget of 18,400 billion VND. In the period of 2026 - 2030 alone, the average budget revenue strives to increase by 10 - 12% per year.

With this goal, in addition to increasing revenue from various fields, large projects coming into operation are expected to make large contributions to the provincial budget.

Among these, there is the aluminum electrolysis project. Because, according to the plan, the project will have products in 2026 and be fully exploited in 2028.

Once the project is put into operation and maximizes its capacity, the resources it creates for society will be enormous. From here, it will contribute to economic development and increase local budget revenue.

At the field trip to alumina and aluminum projects in Dak Nong on October 10, 2024, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai emphasized that the Dak Nong Aluminum Electrolysis Plant is an important project to turn Dak Nong into a national bauxite - alumina - aluminum industrial center according to the orientation of national mineral planning, regional planning, and provincial planning.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade requested that the investor, Tran Hong Quan Metallurgy Company Limited, focus resources to soon complete the project. Dak Nong should soon resolve administrative procedures and problems, contributing to speeding up the progress and putting the project into operation.

The investor committed to put phase I of the plant into operation in the second quarter of 2026, with a capacity of 150,000 tons/year. Phase 2 with a capacity of 300,000 tons/year will be put into operation in the second quarter of 2027. By the first quarter of 2028, the designed capacity will reach 450,000 tons/year.

Create jobs for thousands of workers

In addition to contributing to the local budget, the aluminum electrolysis project promises to create many jobs for workers.

According to incomplete statistics, up to now, the number of employees working at Dak Nong Aluminum Company - TKV is 1,013, of which 65 are local ethnic minorities. Most of the employees here have an average income of 16.2 million VND/person/month, reaching 112% of the 2024 plan.

In the past time, the company has paid attention to and prioritized the arrangement of enough jobs for employees, ensuring that there are no cases of employees being unemployed or not having enough working days according to regulations due to lack of work.

The Dak Nong Aluminum Company's trade unions have proactively coordinated with professional agencies to stabilize workers' thinking and encourage them to feel secure in production and work.
