On the morning of April 16, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) held the announcement and drawing ceremony for the "Truong Tuoi Group - UEH League 2025" student football tournament.
This tournament follows the success of the first tournament held in 2024. At that time, the tournament quickly became one of the most attractive student tournaments, attracting great attention from the community inside and outside UEH.
Participants are male students of UEH regular university system, UEH regular university articulation system, students of international joint programs with UEH, or students participating in exchange programs studying at UEH.
In particular, this year the participants are also expanded to include UEH alumni; full-time university students of otherUniversities and Colleges.
The tournament takes place from April 20 to November 23, 2025, competing on two weekends at the football field of UEH Sports Center - Nguyen Van Linh (Binh Chanh district).
The 10 participating teams will compete in a round robin format. The four teams with the highest scores will advance to the semi-finals to compete for the Championship Cup. The two teams with the lowest scores after the group stage will compete in a play-off against new teams to qualify for the next season.
The tournament has not yet taken place, but UEH students and student players were excited when the tournament announcement ceremony had the participation of 5 stars of the first-class club Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc.

They are strikers Nguyen Cong Phuong, Ho Tuan Tai, Le Thanh Binh, center back Huynh Tan Sinh and goalkeeper Bui Tan Truong.
Not only did they ask questions, the students also got to go on stage to "compete" on football skills with star players of Vietnam. Many students could not hide their happiness when they met their idols Cong Phuong and Tan Truong.
"I have been your idol for 10 years. You have encountered many difficulties in your career but have overcome them all. So can you share your experiences to help me overcome difficulties in both studying and in life?", a female student asked.
Cong Phuong shared his experience not only in overcoming difficulties but also in his expertise and aspirations for student football.
He said: "I had the opportunity to go to Japan twice to play for Mito Hollyhock and Yokohama FC. Japanese school football teams practice like professionals, have many sponsors, and have Leagues to compete in. When playing friendly matches with professional clubs, they all try to show off to see if they can play professionally.
For Vietnamese school football to develop like Japan, I think schools must have a team and many sponsors to do it. Hopefully, from the UEH tournament, more schools will organize other tournaments so that Vietnamese school football can develop."
