Quang Ninh tycoon's company builds billion-dollar ocean-going yacht

Speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trinh Trung Uy - Chairman of Viet Thuan Group, one of the largest shipping companies in the country, the unit that has just invested in building the largest pair of super yachts in Ha Long Bay - said that the third cruise ship will be a super yacht, qualified to operate around the world .

The capital plan has been calculated and agreed upon by the group and the bank, with a capital of more than 1,000 billion VND. According to Mr. Uy, immediately after the second yacht in the pair of yachts worth 35 million USD is completed, the group will start building the super yacht worth more than 1,000 billion VND in 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2026.

“In the immediate future, the ship will serve tourists from Ha Long Bay to domestic sea areas such as Phu Quoc, Con Dao, even Truong Sa and to ports in the region such as Hainan, Hong Kong (China), Singapore…” - Mr. Uy shared.

According to this tycoon, with a huge amount of capital while the demand for super luxury train services at the present time is not high, the ability to recover capital will be very long, but in the long term, there are many prospects.

“Even with the pair of the largest superyachts in Ha Long Bay that we are about to put into service for tourists with a total investment of about 35 million USD, the capital recovery period will be long, but we still invest because the demand for enjoying high-class services in Ha Long Bay will increase,” said the Chairman of Viet Thuan Group. “In addition, these two ships are of the SB class, allowed to run along the coast from North to South within 12 nautical miles from the shore, in normal weather conditions, so we can calculate more options to serve customers.”

Previously, on the morning of October 8, 2023, at Ha Long Shipyard, Ha Long City, the handover ceremony of the Essence Grand 1 yacht to Viet Thuan Group took place. This is one of a pair of "twin" super yachts with a total investment of about 35 million USD of this group.

Essence Grand 1 is expected to officially operate in Ha Long Bay this month, while Essence Grand 2 is expected to be completed in a few months.

These two ships are both up to 109.9m long - equal to the standard length of a football field according to FIFA regulations, 18.68m wide.

The design includes 1 basement, 6 floors above ground, each floor area is over 2,000 ^m2 . The cruise has 55 luxury rooms and amenities, with a capacity of 160 overnight guests and 320 visitors. The room area ranges from 33 ^m2 to 100 ^m2 - as large as, or even larger than, hotel rooms on land.

All cabins have private balconies which most cruise ships in Ha Long Bay currently do not have, due to insufficient space.

In addition, this pair of yachts also has a large dining room with a capacity of 250 guests, combined with a conference room; a sky bar on the top floor with a capacity of 100 guests, a small dining room for 50 guests, a 150 ^m3 seawater swimming pool, a 3D golf practice room, a cinema room, a spa, a cigar and wine tasting room, a gym, a library, a children's play area...
