Marvell Company (USA) explores investment environment in semiconductor design field in Da Nang

At the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said that the city identified semiconductor chips as an opportunity and growth driver for Da Nang in the coming time.

Recently, the city organized a workshop and oriented solutions for human resource development to serve the semiconductor industry in Da Nang city; participated inthe President 's working delegation to promote investment with corporations: Synopsys, Intel, Nvidia, ITSJ-G, Qorvo in San Jose (USA)... on training and development of microchips and Artificial Intelligence. Along with that, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the People's Committee of Da Nang city and Synopsys Company in the field of semiconductor industry.

Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh informed that the city is currently focusing on researching and developing a number of mechanisms and policies to promote the development of microchip and semiconductor human resources in the city. In particular, focusing on 3 subjects: lecturers, graduated engineers (including related majors), students in training... to create skilled human resources with output meeting the international standards of large enterprises.

Identifying semiconductor chips as the driving force for growth, the City People's Committee has a policy to develop the Project "Developing semiconductor chips and microchips in Da Nang City". At the same time, establish two teams to implement the Project "Developing semiconductor chips and microchips in Da Nang City"; establish the Da Nang Center for Research, Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence.

At the meeting, representatives of Danang University, relevant departments, agencies and sectors discussed with representatives of Marvell company about enrollment plans, specialized training in semiconductor microchips, scholarship support for students studying in majors related to semiconductor microchips, learning about technology infrastructure, etc.

Marvell (USA) Global Executive Vice President Loi Nguyen said that Marvell is very interested in the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam in general and the potential for semiconductor industry development in Da Nang in particular. In particular, Mr. Loi Nguyen emphasized the importance of human resource development in this field.

“The University of Technology is one of the schools that Marvell wants to award scholarships to, creating favorable conditions for students to have the opportunity to access and learn about semiconductor microcircuits,” said Mr. Loi Nguyen.

At the same time, he said that after this business trip, Mr. Loi Nguyen will introduce his colleagues working at Marvell to organize online sharing and chatting sessions with students from many universities in Da Nang city to exchange experiences and improve the quality of human resources.

After the working session, the Marvell delegation will conduct a field survey of the High-Tech Park and IT parks in the city to explore cooperation opportunities in Da Nang.
