In 2024, the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) assigned Duong Huy Coal Company to exploit more than 2.475 million tons of coal (the highest output ever). Since the beginning of the year, especially in the last months of the year, the Company has focused on increasing production speed, striving to reach the output milestone of 2.5 million tons of coal.

Entering the implementation of the 2024 target, Duong Huy Coal Company has to face many difficulties and challenges when having to carry out two parallel goals: striving to achieve the mine's design capacity of 2.5 million tons of underground coal/year and implementing a plan to go down to -250 depth to extend the mine's lifespan. Not only that, due to the impact of storm No. 3 (September 7), Duong Huy Coal Company's production activities were interrupted for many days.
However, since September 8, the unit has quickly overcome the consequences of the storm. To quickly stabilize production, the Company has also closely followed the production and business plans and management instructions of TKV, focusing on pumping water, ventilating and preparing well for normal production conditions.
In addition, to implement the plan to go below -100m, from the beginning of 2024 until now, Duong Huy Coal Company has accelerated the progress of tunnel excavation. In early June 2024, TKV approved the exploitation plan of Khe Tam coal mine tunnel project of Duong Huy Coal. This is a necessary condition for the unit to accelerate the progress of tunnel excavation, preparing new production areas in the context of coal reserves from production areas from +38 to -100 are gradually running out.
By early October 2024, Duong Huy Coal Company - TKV had inaugurated and put into operation the synchronized mechanized longwall TT-10-11/Via 10, Central area. This is the first longwall under the stratified mining plan below -100 level of Khe Tam coal mine shaft. This longwall has a length of 430m, a slope angle of 8-11 degrees, an average thickness of 3m, and an industrial reserve of 250,000 tons.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Truong, Deputy Director of the Company, said: The TT-10-11/Via 10 synchronized mechanized furnace, Central area, has been exploited and tested using medium-level synchronized mechanization technology. Since its operation, the furnace has maintained a fairly stable output, reaching an average of 2,500 tons/day. In the current situation, when the Company's mining areas from level +38 to -100 are facing complex geological conditions and are gradually ending, the inauguration and putting into operation of the first furnace below level -100 will contribute a significant part of the output for Duong Huy Coal to achieve the mine's design capacity of 2.5 million tons of underground coal in 2024. It is expected that in 2025, the Company will continue to put 3 furnaces at Via 10, Central area into operation.

At this time, in addition to promoting the 90-day and night competition in coal production and consumption, striving to complete the 2024 output, Duong Huy Coal is also actively preparing for production in 2024. This is an important condition for the unit to continue to maintain stable production and business momentum.
Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, Duong Huy Coal has overcome difficulties and made a breakthrough to become one of the units that have successfully completed the 9-month targets. Typically, in the first 9 months of 2024, Duong Huy Coal Company has exploited more than 1.83 million tons of coal, reaching 74% of the yearly plan; consumed more than 1.55 million tons of coal, reaching 78.7% of the yearly plan. The company also dug over 19,200m of tunnel, reaching 74% of the yearly plan. This result created a breakthrough momentum to help the unit continue to set high goals in this fourth quarter.
Currently, Duong Huy Coal Company is competing for 90 days and nights of peak production, determined to fully complete the planned tasks of the fourth quarter and the whole year of 2024. In particular, in the fourth quarter of 2024 alone, the Company aims to produce 659,500 tons of underground coal, dig 6,520m of new tunnels, and ensure labor safety. Duong Huy Coal's highest goal is to reach the designed capacity of 2.5 million tons of underground coal in 2024.
