The student's story took social media by storm.
Recently, the story of a second grade boy in China during lunch time shared by a teacher has moved millions of people to tears.
It is known that on October 14, Mr. Wang, a primary school teacher in a rural area of Henan Province, China, discovered that student Li Shibo was not at lunchtime. It was time for the afternoon class, this teacher went to look for him and witnessed a very touching scene: Li was standing inside, watching his mother outside the school gate eating her lunch. Occasionally, the boy fixed his mother's hair.
When he saw the teacher approaching, Li almost ran away for fear of being scolded. However, what he did not expect was that the teacher praised him endlessly, and at the same time recorded the moment and shared the video on social media.
It is known that before that, Li often said: "I'm still young, so I only need a little water for lunch" and when he was hungry, he collected leftover food from his friends to eat.
The video recorded by head teacher Wang attracted millions of views and "huge" interactions from the online community. Netizens left comments: "The boy has been filial since childhood" and "He knows his mother is different from other parents but doesn't care and still loves her."
According to Jimu News, the local Disabled Persons' Federation confirmed that Li Shibo lives with his mentally disabled mother and sister, and the 12-year-old boy himself has a mild mental disability. Li's grandmother is bedridden, and his father died in a car accident a few years ago. The family receives living allowances from the government , and Li's uncle and aunt provide support. Local authorities said they also provide free meals for the family.
Teacher Wang often saw Li Shibo's mother wandering around and stopping at the school gate. The teacher said that if Li's mother returned to school, he would personally make sure she got a free meal. Many believed that Li's mother waited outside the school to keep the boy company; they sensed a deep bond and love between mother and son.
Not only that, thousands of people have visited Mr. Wang's account to donate money and essential goods to the boy's family. Packages of goods ordered online by kind-hearted people across the country have almost filled Li's house.
Local authorities recently announced that they will visit the boy's family and explore other ways to support them.
