The Drug Administration of Vietnam temporarily suspended the circulation of sunscreen announced SPF50, tested to reach 10

The Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) has just sent an official dispatch to the Department of Health of provinces and cities regarding the temporary suspension of nationwide circulation of the sunscreen product Esunvy Sun Care SPF 50+ PA++++.

Esunvy Sun Care SPF 50+ PA++++ sunscreen product is manufactured by Meracine Pharmaceutical Research and Production Joint Stock Company (Bac Ninh), distributed by Tin Phong Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company ( Hanoi ).

According to the Drug Administration, test results from testing centers in Lam Dong and Lao Cai show that the actual sun protection index (SPF 8.9 - 10.0) does not match the index declared on the label (SPF 50+). Product samples were taken at pharmacies in Lam Dong and Yen Bai .

To ensure safety for users, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requires health departments of provinces and cities to immediately stop selling and using the product; seal, preserve or return it to the supplier.

Meracine and Tin Phong companies must notify the recall, receive returned products, coordinate sampling and testing, and review the production and storage processes to determine the cause. Report the results to the Department before October 15, 2025.

Bac Ninh Department of Health supervises the suspension of circulation, coordinates the sampling of the entire product batch and sends it to the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute to evaluate the sun protection index.

Previously, Meracine said it had sent product samples to a unit in Taiwan and the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute, and the results were consistent with the published index.

However, due to the discrepancy between the test results, the Drug Administration decided to temporarily suspend the circulation of this product on the market until an official conclusion is available.
