The most beautiful road in the Western region of Nghe An was devastated after the flood.

Due to the impact of the historic flood at the end of July, Provincial Road 543 connecting National Highway 7 to the center of Muong Tip border commune (Nghe An) suffered serious landslides, causing unsafe traffic and flood relief work.

Provincial Road 543D (also known as Muong Xen - Ta Do - Khe Kien Road) is nearly 60km long with a total investment of nearly 600 billion VND, has just been inaugurated and put into use since the end of 2023. Provincial Road 543D runs parallel to the Nam Mo River, this is the main route connecting the center of Ky Son district of Nghe An with the communes of Ta Ca, Muong Ai, Muong Tip and Nam Can (formerly) and is considered the most beautiful road in Western Nghe An.

However, due to the impact of the historic flood at the end of July, many locations on provincial road 543D were eroded and seriously degraded.

On this route on August 6, there were many landslides and open spaces stretching for kilometers. Even at KM89, the Nam Mo River had eroded so deeply that a stretch of road several dozen meters long had almost disappeared, leaving just enough room for motorbikes to pass.

Faced with the above situation, authorities mobilized machinery to open a temporary road along the cliff to serve the travel of people and relief teams to the center of Muong Tip commune.

Mr. Vi Van Son, Chairman of Muong Tip Commune People's Committee, said: Due to the impact of the historic flood, the vital road from National Highway 7 to the commune center was severely damaged. Up to now, there are still dozens of serious landslides on the road, cutting off many villages. Local authorities and functional agencies have mobilized excavators to temporarily handle the landslides in order to serve the travel needs of the people, and at the same time, to ensure the safety of rescue teams entering the commune.
