One of the outstanding trekking routes in Binh Lieu district, which will be developed into a tourism product from 2024, is the journey from Song Mooc village to Khe Tien village (Dong Van commune).
The route is more than 10km long, passing through anise forests, cinnamon forests, bamboo forests, natural forests; following streams, terraced fields; passing through villages of Tay, Dao, San Chi people; admiring houses with rammed earth walls that are decades old.
Ms. Nguyen My Dung (30 years old, Ha Long City) shared: “I have walked and climbed mountains at Fansipan, Hang En, Yen Tu... This is the first time trekking through the forest in Dong Van, Binh Lieu. This type of activity is quite new, requiring both tourists and tour guides to have time and patience.
Along the journey are very unique stops - it could be a waterfall, a stream, a small village or meeting a local forest ranger to strike up a conversation.
Since April 30, Ms. Dung has been staying at Huong Hoi Que homestay (Khe Tien village, Dong Van commune).
Here, visitors will sleep in rammed earth houses with hotel-like amenities, eat, live and experience like a local with the host.
Mr. Duong Phuc Thim - homestay owner (who often leads groups of tourists through the forest) - said: "During the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year, the homestay was fully booked. Tourists come not only to explore the Dao people's Wind Abstinence custom, but also to conquer mountain peaks such as Cao Ba Lanh and Keo Lan mountain."
From April 30 to May 4, 2025, Dong Van commune organizes a series of cultural - sports - tourism activities such as: Opening and organizing the ceremony to receive the Wind Abstinence Custom as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Traditional art performances, national sports competitions (stick pushing, tug of war, throwing balls...).
Mr. Vi Ngoc Nhat - Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Binh Lieu district - said: "As of May 3, the whole district has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors in just 4 days of the holiday. In the coming time, we will develop more trekking routes to explore waterfalls, villages, and let tourists experience Binh Lieu agriculture.
With pristine nature and unique culture, Binh Lieu is becoming an attractive destination, especially for international visitors.
The district aims to welcome 500,000 visitors by 2025, through developing community tourism and green tourism.
Trekking is not only a journey to explore the landscape but also an opportunity for tourists to immerse themselves in local life and satisfy their passion for adventure in remote areas.
