The Border Guard Command of Nghe An province said that at about 8:30 a.m. on November 13, the rescue force of Dien Thanh Border Guard Station (Nghe An) reached the location of the sunken fishing boat and brought the three fishermen in distress to safety on a canoe.
After receiving initial health care, authorities brought the three fishermen back to shore.
Earlier, at about 4:00 a.m. the same day, fishing boat NA0205 TS, owned and captained by Mr. Dau Tran Binh (born in 1978, residing in Dien Chau commune, Nghe An province), sank while fishing about 8 nautical miles off the coast of Dien Chau commune. At that time, in addition to the owner, there were 2 other crew members on board.
Upon receiving the news, the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command directed coastal units to notify ships and boats operating near the area of the shipwreck to coordinate in search and rescue; and assigned Dien Thanh Border Guard Station to deploy forces and vehicles to quickly approach the scene.
The initial cause of the fishing boat sinking was determined to be a hole in the bottom.
