Also attending were Colonel Trinh Ca, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 2; leaders and commanders of Division 304 and Regiment 66.

Regiment 66, Division 304 is a heroic unit of the People's Armed Forces, with a long tradition. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Regiment 66 participated in many major campaigns, fought more than 500 battles, destroyed and wounded more than 15,000 enemies, shot down and burned many enemy planes, military vehicles, tanks, military vehicles, and artillery.

During the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the 66th Regiment, part of the 2nd Corps' (now 12th Corps) deep penetration force, was assigned the mission of attacking the enemy's last lair - the Independence Palace, capturing the entire cabinet of President Duong Van Minh, forcing them to declare unconditional surrender.

During the historic days of April, returning to the memories of half a century ago, generations of veterans of Regiment 66 were deeply moved, recalling the years of hardship and fighting on the battlefields; igniting the heroic memories of the great victory day of the whole nation, completely liberating the South, unifying the country, bringing the country together, and the country resounding with the song of triumph. In that heroic common feat, there was a glorious and proud contribution of generations of veterans of Regiment 66.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented gifts to representatives of the families of martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and officers and soldiers of Regiment 66 in the deep thrust formation of Army Corps 2 that captured Saigon Radio Station and Independence Palace on April 30, 1975.
