Former V-League defender 'shocked' when attending press conference of Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament

At 3:30 p.m. on November 2, the final match of the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025 will take place to determine the champion. The two teams participating in this match are Sacombank and the Vietnam Banking Trade Union.

Before the match, the organizers held a professional press conference to answer questions and concerns from the press. This event was organized similar to professional football tournaments, with both the head coach and players representing the team.

Representing the Vietnam Bank Union team is Coach Nguyen Quoc Long, a former player who played in the V-League for the Hanoi and Saigon clubs. When he was still playing, he was no stranger to press conferences.

That is the responsibility of players and coaches in professional-scale playgrounds such as V-League and National Cup. However, Quoc Long still felt bewildered and surprised when entering the press conference room of the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament.

Sharing on the sidelines of the program, the former V-League player said: "I was completely surprised to know there would be a press conference. If it were a professional tournament, this would be normal, but this is the first time I have answered questions from the press at a grassroots playground."

However, with many years of experience in this special position, Nguyen Quoc Long made statements and answered questions from the press fluently and clearly.

"The organizers organized the press conference very professionally. The arrangement, decoration of tables and chairs, guests, and press were quite similar to what I had experienced before. This shows that the organizers were extremely thoughtful and also respected the teams," Quoc Long expressed.

On the other side of the battle line, Sacombank coach Nguyen Tuan Em also made similar comments. He said: "I was actually a bit nervous because I had never attended a press conference in front of such a large crowd. The Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament is one of the country's major grassroots playgrounds, and over the years the level of professionalism has been improved."

The 2025 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament is jointly organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper , Vietnam General Confederation of Labor , and Vietnam Football Federation for the third consecutive year.

Entering the 2025 season, the tournament has affirmed its position as an annual, prestigious playground for workers, civil servants, and laborers across the country; contributing to promoting the movement of physical exercise and sports, improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers, civil servants, and laborers in particular and the whole society in general.

This year's tournament is honored to receive the support of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO), Dong Luc Sports Group, HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company, Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company, Sunshine Group, Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), Fashion Connection Joint Stock Company (Faslink), 108 Central Military Hospital, 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.

The final round of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025 took place from October 31 to November 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of 16 teams that had successfully passed the qualifying round.
