By the afternoon of October 29, National Highway 20, passing through D'Ran Pass (Lam Dong Province) leading to Da Lat from Khanh Hoa (formerly Ninh Thuan ), had serious landslides at many locations. The most serious point was the Treo Bridge area (km262+400) which is still being repaired.
A large amount of rock and soil, along with pine trees, fell onto the road, disrupting traffic and posing a high safety risk to people and vehicles passing by.
D'Ran Pass is 10km long and located on Highway 20 with many dangerous curves. This is the route connecting Da Lat urban area with Song Pha Pass on Highway 27 to form the Da Lat - Phan Rang ( Khanh Hoa ) route.
Although the landslide only covered half of the road, the authorities agreed to block the road and redirect vehicles to Da Lat by other routes.

Many passersby expressed their anger at the landslide that blocked the entire road. Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Truong Ward - Da Lat, said: the scene looks simple but it has great potential risks.
According to Mr. Son, the phenomenon of rolling rocks, landslides and roadbed landslides continues to occur. At the Suspension Bridge area, the negative slope has collapsed due to the pressure of landslides from the positive slope, causing the road leading to the Suspension Bridge to crack, revealing a gap about 5cm wide in the middle of the road.

Mr. Son said that vehicles cannot pass through without cutting down the pine trees on the embankment. At the same time, the authorities must control the phenomenon of rolling rocks to avoid endangering road users. According to Mr. Son, it is expected that vehicles will pass through D'Ran Pass on the evening of October 29, at the landslide point, vehicles will only be allowed to travel on half of the road.

At the scene, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province and the People's Committee of Xuan Truong ward - Da Lat also recorded that the hill on the positive slope had cracked. At the crack, many pine trees had broken and fallen to the edge of the slope. The authorities determined that they had to quickly handle or lower the load in the cracked area to prevent the hill from sliding down the D'Ran pass.
