Accordingly, after many years of use, many sections of the embankment and slope around Xuan Huong Lake in Xuan Huong and Lam Vien wards, Da Lat, have seriously deteriorated, affecting the safety of the structure as well as the lake's landscape.
Observations at various areas around Xuan Huong Lake show that the top of the embankment, made of wire mesh, has been damaged and degraded, with many places experiencing subsidence, gaps, and sloping collapses.

In particular, the area in front of Lam Vien Square has suffered significant subsidence; the entire embankment at this location has tilted and been pushed towards the lake, creating a long crack on the top of the slope where it meets the roadside in front of Lam Vien Square.

Lam Dong: Tran Quoc Toan pedestrian street closed due to ineffective operation.
Subsidence, cavities, and roof collapses are also occurring in several other areas, such as in front of the Trade Union Hotel, Bich Cau Garden, Thuy Ta Restaurant, and along the section adjacent to Tran Quoc Toan Street towards the Doi Cu Golf Course…
Currently, Da Lat is in the rainy and stormy season, so landslides could occur at these locations at any time, affecting the safety of the structures as well as the landscape of Xuan Huong Lake.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, the embankment protecting the shoreline of Xuan Huong Lake was built in 1998 with a total length of 5100m. In 2010, the embankment was repaired and reinforced at the base according to the old structure, and the top of the embankment was rebuilt with a sloping mesh structure.
Since then, some sections of the embankment have been reinforced with wire mesh due to erosion in 2017 and 2020. However, the repairs and reinforcements had to be carried out under flooded conditions and were temporary, so their stability is not high.
In response to this situation, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee recently issued a directive instructing relevant departments and agencies to coordinate in assessing, planning, and implementing solutions to repair and maintain the embankment system surrounding Xuan Huong Lake.
Specifically, the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction No. 1 is tasked with urgently coordinating with relevant units to conduct surveys and prepare proposals for the investment policy of the project to remedy, maintain, and repair the embankment and slope system around Xuan Huong Lake, submitting them to the competent authority for appraisal and approval according to regulations; to be completed before November 20, 2025.

The Department of Finance, based on the investment policy proposal submitted by Project Management Board No. 1, is instructed to promptly organize the appraisal and submit the investment policy proposal to the competent authority for approval, while also allocating funds for project implementation in accordance with regulations.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Agriculture and Environment, based on their functions, duties, and areas of management, shall proactively coordinate and guide relevant agencies and units in the process of implementing procedures according to regulations.
Furthermore, the document also requests that the People's Committees of Xuan Huong and Lam Vien wards in Da Lat strengthen monitoring of the landslide situation on the embankment slopes around Xuan Huong Lake; in case of any unsafe conditions, they must quickly cordon off the area, cordon off the area, and place warning signs to prevent people and tourists from approaching; and prevent any incidents that directly affect the lives and property of residents and tourists.
The Xuan Huong Lake project was invested in and constructed by the French in 1936, completed in 1937. Since its construction, Xuan Huong Lake has played an extremely important role in flood control, climate regulation, and creating a tourist landscape in the central area of Da Lat.

On the other hand, Xuan Huong Lake is a scenic spot with cultural and historical significance, closely linked to the formation and development of Da Lat.
Ho Xuan Huong Lake in Da Lat was recognized as a National Scenic Monument by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in 1988. It is one of the first scenic monuments in Lam Dong province to be classified as a national monument, possessing both scenic and cultural heritage value, and serving as a symbol and heart of Da Lat.
