Notably, traditional cultural values continue to be preserved and promoted, imbued with contemporary spirit, becoming a tremendous spiritual resource and driving force for sustainable national development in the new era.
Music and film - a year of triumph.
The music industry in 2025 will see a boom in national concerts – well-organized, large-scale artistic programs that attract significant public attention. A prime example is the "Homeland in My Heart" concert held at My Dinh National Stadium ( Hanoi ), which attracted over 50,000 spectators. With a sophisticated blend of traditional music, revolutionary songs, and modern technology, balancing heritage preservation with contemporary innovation, national concerts contribute to fostering national pride, spreading patriotism within the community, and motivating the younger generation to continue preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural values.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son - a full-time member of the National Assembly 's Committee on Culture and Society - expressed optimism: If professionally organized and combined with other service sectors, national concerts will become a sustainable driving force for the development of Vietnam's cultural industry. Along with that, the year also saw the rise of pop songs, diverse in style and genre, rich in traditional cultural identity and patriotic inspiration.

A highlight in the music field last year was the resounding victory of singer Duc Phuc at the Intervision Song Contest 2025 in Moscow, Russia, with the song "Phu Dong Thien Vuong" (composed by Ho Hoai Anh). In his letter commending singer Duc Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his belief that this victory would be a driving force for singer Duc Phuc in particular and Vietnamese artists in general to continue developing their talents, constantly innovating, making positive contributions to the country's music and promoting Vietnamese culture to the world; and at the same time, creating a strong source of inspiration for Vietnamese youth to continue to dedicate themselves and create, contributing the essence of Vietnam to the flow of human civilization.
In the film industry, many Vietnamese films have set box office records and received positive reviews from critics. According to Box Office Vietnam statistics, as of early December 2025, total box office revenue in Vietnam reached approximately 5,700 billion VND, an unprecedented high (compared to over 1,500 billion VND in 2023 and 1,900 billion VND in 2024). The proportion of domestic films has also increased; while Vietnamese domestic films accounted for 42% of the market in 2024, this figure is expected to exceed 62% in 2025, confirming the growing appeal of domestic films.
Notably, the historical-war revolutionary film genre has made a strong comeback. Among them, "Red Rain" stands out, achieving unprecedented box office revenue (over 714 billion VND) and winning the Golden Lotus Award at the 24th Vietnam Film Festival.
In addition, films about revolutionary wars, soldier themes, or those exploring historical figures with modernized storytelling have brought diversity to Vietnamese cinema, such as: Tunnels - The Sun in the Darkness, and The Deadly Battle in the Air ...
Director of the Vietnam Film Department, Dang Tran Cuong, analyzed: In these films, filmmakers have found a way to reconcile historical values with modern cinematic language, delivering emotionally rich films of high artistic quality. The success of these films shows that Vietnamese audiences are not indifferent but are always ready to embrace and support war and revolutionary films.

Alongside the success of established filmmakers, the groundbreaking efforts and diverse voices of young filmmakers have breathed new life into the national film industry, gaining public acceptance.
Notable examples include directors like Huynh Lap ( Ancestral House , grossing over 240 billion VND), Thu Trang ( Billion-Dollar Kiss , grossing over 200 billion VND), Pom Nguyen ( Possessed by a Ghost , grossing over 150 billion VND), Hoang Nam ( Ghost Lamp , grossing over 100 billion VND)... Some independent films, focusing on artistic merit, although not "scoring" in terms of box office revenue, also received positive reviews from critics, such as The Wooden Fish School by director Nguyen Pham Thanh Dat, and The Ky Nam Inn by director Leon Quang Le...
Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan - President of the Vietnam Film Development Promotion Association - assessed: 2025 marks a significant leap forward in the market share of domestic films, the growth of the Vietnamese film market, and especially recently, many domestic films, young filmmakers, and independent filmmakers have shown creativity that has been invited, recognized, and awarded prizes at international film festivals.
Opportunities and challenges
The year 2025 will see an increasing penetration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the fields of literature and art. In film, AI will be involved in editing, rendering, scene simulation, voice-over, and post-production. In music, AI will be used to create new music using existing sound elements, background harmonies, and even vocal simulations. In photography, AI will be used for editing, scene creation, and creating more impressive effects for viewers. In literature, AI will assist authors in structuring their works and simulating the styles of various genres.
However, the use of AI in creative work is also causing much controversy. One photography competition this year had to revoke an award after discovering that a work used excessive technical manipulation, fabricating the composition of the image using AI tools, violating the rules against interfering with natural forms. In the field of music, AI-generated works are also sparking debate regarding the exploitation and use of data from famous works, raising concerns about copyright protection.
Many artists have expressed concerns that the rapid development of AI could disrupt traditional values, blurring the lines between works created by humans and those aided by algorithms. While the benefits of AI are undeniable, artists believe that cultural and artistic activities can only thrive sustainably when creativity is coupled with integrity and when technology is used as a supporting tool, not a complete replacement for the talent and artistic labor of the artist. This reality highlights the urgent need to establish a clear legal framework for copyright, artist responsibility, professional ethics, and standards for art competitions.
Against the backdrop of increasing globalization and international integration, 2025 marks the proactive integration of Vietnamese culture and arts in all fields. Vietnamese cinema is present at many international film festivals. The 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival, held in four provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, and Ho Chi Minh City, attracted more than 1,000 domestic and international artists. The 4th International New Music Festival of Asia-Europe, held in Hanoi and Phu Tho, brought together nearly 300 artists from 15 countries.
Alongside this, heritage preservation projects and the promotion of traditional cultural values continue to be strengthened, with the active participation of Generation Z, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position and brand on the world map. This shows that culture and arts are entering a period of strong transformation, where the development of endogenous strengths (tradition, identity, historical values, etc.) is placed in parallel with the strategy of international integration, building a competitive cultural industry that contributes to the global creative flow.
