Contributions to the Documents of the First Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union

On December 14th, the Standing Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor (VFL) held a conference to contribute to the documents for the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030; the draft report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (13th term) to be presented at the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress; and the draft amendments and additions to the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union.

On December 14th, the Standing Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor (VFL) held a conference to contribute to the documents for the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030; the draft report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (13th term) to be presented at the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress; and the draft amendments and additions to the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union.

* At Discussion Group No. 2 ( Ben Tre area), Comrade Nguyen Phuc Linh – Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union, and Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Dung – Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union, presided. Attending were 104 delegates representing grassroots trade unions in the former Ben Tre province, who were official delegates to the First Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Labor Union.

Delegates focused their contributions on the task of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. Many opinions proposed groundbreaking solutions to ensure that trade unions truly become a "reliable support" for workers, especially in collective bargaining, regular dialogue, and resolving labor disputes in enterprises.

Regarding financial matters, delegates suggested improving regulations and rules for managing trade union finances and assets in a transparent and efficient manner, utilizing union dues and funds effectively. They also emphasized the need for solutions to address the issue of businesses defaulting on, delaying, or failing to pay the 2% trade union dues. Many delegates also stressed the importance of enhancing the application of information technology, standardizing documentation, and improving the capacity of grassroots trade union financial officers.

Contributing to the direction for the 2025-2030 term, delegates proposed defining goals and targets in the direction of "reducing fragmentation, increasing focus, and using tangible effectiveness as the measure"; restructuring membership development targets in conjunction with the quality of grassroots trade union activities. Many opinions suggested adding targets reflecting the quality of dialogue, collective bargaining, collective labor agreements that are more beneficial to workers, inspection and supervision work, and skills training for trade union officials.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Phuc Linh highly appreciated the frank, responsible, and highly practical opinions. He stated that the Organizing Committee would fully incorporate and synthesize all opinions to finalize the document to be presented at the First Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union, term 2025-2030, meeting the requirements for innovation and improving the quality and effectiveness of trade union activities in the new period.

* In Nguyet Hoa ward, the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor (LĐLĐ) organized a conference to contribute to the documents for the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union Congress, draft reports of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (13th term) to be submitted to the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, and draft amendments and additions to the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union.

This is one of the agenda items for the First Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union, term 2025-2030. Ms. Vo Thi Thu Oanh, Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Labor, chaired the meeting.

At the conference, delegates representing grassroots trade unions discussed and exchanged views on topics such as: propaganda, education, and mobilization of union members and workers, trade union communication, proposals for new and effective communication channels (social media, digital platforms), women's work activities, and support for social housing for union members...

In particular, the discussion focused on the overall goals set for the 2025-2030 term, aiming to build a strong and comprehensive trade union organization, focusing on representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, developing long-term welfare programs, promoting a pioneering role, innovation, developing a team of trade union officials, and promoting digital transformation in trade union activities...

Representatives of the Provincial Federation of Labor Unions received and recorded the feedback, discussed it, and will find appropriate solutions to meet the concerns and aspirations of union members.

Comrade Vo Thi Thu Oanh - Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Labor Unions emphasized: The opinions of the delegates were very relevant and significant, demonstrating their dedication to trade union activities and their role and responsibility in contributing to the resolution for the 2025-2030 term. The Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor Unions will incorporate these into the content of the Congress resolution, proposing solutions to make trade union activities more effective in the new term and to better care for the lives of union members, trade union members, and workers.
