On December 14th, the cold air mass continued to affect the remaining areas of Northwest and North Central Vietnam, then extended to Central Vietnam. Inland, the northeast wind maintained level 3, level 3-4 in coastal areas, and the weather turned noticeably cold.
Throughout December 14th, both day and night, the North Central region experienced scattered rain and showers. On the morning of the same day, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City had moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall. The forecast for December 14th indicates continued moderate to heavy rain from Quang Tri to Da Nang City, with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 20-50mm, and some areas exceeding 80mm. This poses a potential risk of localized flooding in low-lying urban areas and landslides in mountainous regions.
The Northern region and Thanh Hoa province will experience scattered rain and showers, with thunderstorms in some areas; locally, moderate to heavy rain with rainfall exceeding 30mm will occur. The eastern parts of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces will have rain, moderate rain, and scattered thunderstorms, with rainfall of 10-30mm, and locally exceeding 60mm in some areas. From the night of December 14th, heavy rain in the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City is expected to gradually decrease.
Due to the impact of the cold air mass, Northern Vietnam is experiencing cold weather, with some areas experiencing intense cold; particularly in mountainous and midland areas, the cold is severe, with some high mountainous areas experiencing extreme cold. The lowest temperatures during this period in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam are generally 7-10 degrees Celsius, with some high mountainous areas below 5 degrees Celsius; in the Northern Delta, 11-14 degrees Celsius; and in North Central Vietnam, 12-15 degrees Celsius. Hanoi is experiencing cold weather, with some areas experiencing intense cold, and the lowest temperatures are generally 12-14 degrees Celsius.
At sea, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience strong northeasterly winds of force 6-7, gusting to force 8, with rough seas and waves 2-4 meters high. In the northern South China Sea (including the Hoang Sa Islands), northeasterly winds will be force 7-8, gusting to force 9-10, with waves 4-6 meters high.
In the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Ca Mau, between the East Sea and the southwestern East Sea (including the sea area west of Truong Sa), the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, with waves 3-5m high. The southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa sea area) and the Gulf of Thailand will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms; tornadoes and strong gusts of wind are possible during thunderstorms.
