The cold air mass has caused temperatures in Northern Vietnam to drop, with some areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperatures during this cold spell in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam are generally between 7 and 10 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on December 14th, the cold air mass will continue to affect other areas in the Northwest and North Central regions, and then extend to the Central region. Inland, the northeast wind will be strong at level 3, and in coastal areas it will be strong at levels 3-4.

On December 14th, both day and night, scattered rain and showers occurred in the North Central region. The Northern region experienced cold weather, with some areas experiencing severe cold. The mountainous and midland areas were particularly cold, with some high mountain regions experiencing extreme cold. The lowest temperatures during this cold spell in the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region were generally between 7-10°C, with some high mountain areas experiencing temperatures below 5°C. In the Northern delta region, temperatures were generally between 11-14°C; in the North Central region, temperatures were generally between 12-15°C.

The Northern region and Thanh Hoa province will experience scattered rain and showers, with thunderstorms in some areas; locally, moderate to heavy rain with rainfall exceeding 30mm will occur.

The North Central region will experience scattered rain and showers. The area from Quang Tri to Da Nang will have rain, moderate rain, and locally heavy rain, with rainfall generally ranging from 20-50mm, and locally exceeding 80mm, posing a risk of localized flooding in low-lying urban areas and landslides in hilly and mountainous regions.

At sea, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience strong northeasterly winds of force 6-7, gusting to force 8, with rough seas and waves 2-4 meters high. In the northern South China Sea (including the Hoang Sa Islands), northeasterly winds will be force 7-8, gusting to force 9-10, with waves 4-6 meters high.

In the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Ca Mau , between the East Sea and the southwestern East Sea (including the sea area west of Truong Sa), the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, with waves 3-5m high. The southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa sea area) and the Gulf of Thailand will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms; tornadoes and strong gusts of wind are possible during thunderstorms.
