Da Nang carries out 45 programs in response to the Month of Action for the Environment and Vietnam Sea and Island Week.

DNO - On the morning of June 5, the People's Committee of Da Nang City coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Chau District to launch the Action Month for the Environment, Vietnam Sea and Islands Week, World Environment Day (June 5) and World Oceans Day (June 8) with 45 specific programs. Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Quang Nam emphasized that the theme of World Environment Day 2025 chosen by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) is "Fighting plastic pollution" and the theme of World Ocean Day is "The miraculous ocean preserves the source of life for humanity" strongly conveying the message of building a sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature; rationally using natural resources, biodiversity and adapting to climate change; controlling and solving plastic waste pollution through policies, initiatives and participating in global and regional cooperation mechanisms; moving towards a greener, cleaner lifestyle; increasing recycling and reuse; promoting the building of a green economy , circular economy and sustainable development.

The theme of Vietnam Sea and Islands Week (taking place from June 1 to 8) is “Green technology for sustainable oceans”, emphasizing the pioneering role of science, innovation and technology in protecting the ocean, developing a prosperous marine economy, and preserving national sovereignty in the new era, the era of national growth.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also informed that over the past years, Da Nang city has achieved many encouraging results in the field of environment and has received many environmental titles and awards, especially for 3 consecutive years, the city has been the leading locality among 63 provinces and centrally-run cities in the Provincial Environmental Protection Index (PEPI) and for 3 consecutive years received the Vietnam Smart City Award in the field of smart, green, and clean environmental management city.

To have a clean and beautiful city landscape and environment like today is the active cooperation of many communities and city residents.

Every Sunday morning, many veterans, women, union members, youth, children and international tourists actively participate in the "Green, clean, beautiful Sunday" movement, participate in sorting waste at source, respond to the "Anti-plastic waste" movement... Besides, there are many good, practical and truly meaningful models and activities, creating a positive spread of environmental protection in the city.

The city acknowledges and thanks the sentiments and responsible cooperation of the city's people; the coordination of domestic and foreign organizations and partners that have supported resources to effectively protect the city's environment.

To continue to maintain the achievements as well as create a breakthrough in the implementation of the project "Building Da Nang - Environmental City" in the period of 2021-2030, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Quang Nam requested agencies, units and localities to focus resources to quickly and promptly resolve environmental issues arising in each locality, residential area and industrial parks.

At the same time, propagate and take measures to guide the economical use of resources in daily life, refuse to use unnecessary items, especially disposable plastic items and hard-to-decompose plastic bags; use environmentally friendly transportation; do not consume, trade, or illegally exploit wild animals and plants; focus on integrating educational activities on environmental protection, love of nature, and conservation of the city's biodiversity.

Along with that, promote synchronous implementation activities on classification and collection of domestic solid waste at source in residential areas, production, business and service establishments; apply advanced solutions and technologies for recycling and waste treatment.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also called on agencies, units and people of the city to actively participate in planting trees in the locality; the movement "Green, clean, beautiful Sunday", environmentally friendly residential areas...

With the attention and direction of leaders at all levels, the coordination of departments, branches, localities, the support of partners, international organizations and the active actions of Da Nang people, the city will continue to be cleaner and friendlier, contributing to the successful implementation of the project "Building Da Nang - Environmental City" in the period of 2021-2030.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hai Chau District People's Committee Nguyen Van Duy called on officials and people in the district to actively participate in environmental protection activities with specific and practical actions; change small habits and behaviors to create big changes and move towards building a sustainable future...

Specifically, reduce the use of disposable plastic items, limit the use of plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic straws... to say no to plastic waste. At the same time, gradually replace plastic products by using environmentally friendly, recycled, reusable products such as cloth bags, biodegradable bags, glass water bottles, bamboo or stainless steel straws...

In addition, actively classify waste at home, bring recyclable plastic waste to collection points or recycling facilities; join hands with local authorities to carry out general environmental sanitation, clean beaches, rivers and lakes and handle waste accumulation points in public areas, join hands to maintain hygiene and collect waste at locations participating in major events of the city and district, especially during the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) in 2025.
