The Southern Fruit Festival is an annual cultural and tourism event aimed at introducing to visitors the unique, rich and diverse varieties of fruits from all regions of the country; at the same time, honoring the achievements of farmers in the agricultural sector, contributing to preserving the unique art of fruit sculpture and promoting the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people.
The festival will have many sightseeing and entertainment activities for visitors throughout the summer such as: Fruit sculpture art contest; Giant fruit collection; "Bach Qua Tu Quy Than Tien Hoi" parade show; Dramatization of the legend of Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh; Southern amateur music; Traditional musical instrument performances, street music ... along with more than 20 dishes made from fruits and typical dishes of regions across the country. In addition, visitors can enjoy special culinary art performances such as: Fruit drink mixing performance by the Ho Chi Minh City Bartender Association, Fruit food processing performance by the World Super Chef Association in Vietnam; Fruit, root, and fruit carving art performance...
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Huu Luan, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the 16th Southern Fruit Festival, said that this is the largest fruit festival in the country, gathering a variety of special fruits from regions across the country, as well as from countries around the world to display and introduce to visitors. The highlight of this year's Southern Fruit Festival is the "Specialty Fruit Market" with the appearance of a fruit collection from Suoi Tien Farm with new high-class fruits originating from countries around the world: Indian red pomegranate, American fig, Brazilian cherry, Indonesian chocolate persimmon, Japanese pink grape, French black candy grape, Taiwanese golden star apple, Japanese guava... All contribute to creating richness, diversity and raising the scale of the "Specialty Fruit Market" from national level to international level.
Mr. Le Huu Luan said that in the future, Ho Chi Minh City will not only aim to attract tourists but also focus on revenue value, so that tourists spend more when coming to the City; in which, the Southern Fruit Festival will be one of the important highlights, contributing to promoting Vietnamese culture and Ho Chi Minh City to the world.
Previously, on June 1, the 12th "Southern Safe and Delicious Fruit" contest was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ho Chi Minh City - Agricultural Consulting and Support Center in collaboration with Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Joint Stock Company.
During 11 seasons, the contest has always received enthusiastic support from farmers throughout the Southeast, gathering varieties of specialty fruits that are large, delicious, beautiful and meet food safety criteria, chosen by many gardeners from 23 provinces and cities to bring to the contest.
The contest aims to promote and enhance the brand of Vietnamese fruits, encourage gardeners to grow and apply scientific and technical advances in production as well as create new varieties with good quality and high productivity. The contest is also a playground, a place for gardeners to exchange experiences, thereby introducing to visitors delicious, safe and nutritious fruits from different regions.
The 2023 Southern Fruit Festival will continue until the end of this summer, Suoi Tien will reduce 50% of entrance tickets for excellent students with certificates of merit in the 2022 - 2023 school year . On the first day of organization (June 1), the Festival attracted more than 25,000 visitors to visit and enjoy fruits. /.
