On the evening of June 10, at the Bac Lieu Provincial Cultural Center, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia jointly organized the opening ceremony of the Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam 2025.
Attending the event were Ms. Lundi Sannara - Secretary of State, Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Hoang Dao Cuong; Standing Deputy Secretary of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee Huynh Quoc Viet.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province, emphasized: The Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam in 2025 is an event of special significance, actively contributing to consolidating, enhancing and further developing the relationship of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability" between the two countries.

The relationship has been built and nurtured by King Norodom Sihanouk and generations of Vietnamese leaders and the people of the two countries, and has been consolidated and developed sustainably in all fields.
The Vice Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee informed that Bac Lieu is a province with many ethnic groups, of which the Khmer ethnic group has over 78,000 people, accounting for 7.6% of the population. The Khmer people in Bac Lieu mainly work in agriculture, living around 22 Khmer Theravada Buddhist pagodas in the province.
In recent years, the material and spiritual life of the Khmer people has improved a lot, the security and order situation in the villages and hamlets is stable. Southern Khmer culture shows a strong vitality and widespread spread, from language, writing, traditional New Year to festivals, folk dances, pentatonic music and traditional costumes, these unique cultural values are not only preserved but also welcomed and loved by the majority of people in the community of ethnic groups in the province.
Mr. Ngo Vu Thang hopes that the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam will continue to create conditions for the province to promote the culture and image of Bac Lieu people to other Cambodian provinces in the coming time.
At the opening ceremony, Ms. Lundi Sannara, Secretary of State, Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia said: Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries with historical similarities and a long-standing tradition of solidarity and friendship.
The good traditional friendship has been built and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, and has been consolidated and sustainably developed in all fields.
Emphasizing that the Cambodia Cultural Week in Vietnam in 2025 is an important milestone in implementing the Vietnam-Cambodia cultural and artistic cooperation plan (2023-2027 period), Ms. Lundi Sannara informed that the delegation coming to Bac Lieu to participate in this year's Cambodia Cultural Week has carefully prepared many unique and special performances for the opening night.
The activities at the Cultural Week give Vietnamese audiences a clearer view of the country and people of Cambodia, helping to connect the solidarity between the two nations, bringing the Vietnam-Cambodia cooperative relationship to a new height.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Hoang Dao Cuong shared that this year's Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam took place in Bac Lieu and Vinh Long provinces to introduce to the Vietnamese people the unique culture of Cambodia.
Along with the art program in Bac Lieu, the Cambodian cultural activities taking place in Vinh Long province are part of a series of cultural exchange events in the Vietnam-Cambodia border area, creating conditions for people in the border areas of the two countries to exchange and introduce unique cultural features, contributing to strengthening solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the people of the two countries.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, artists and actors from the Cambodian troupe performed cultural performances about the country and people of Cambodia such as peacock dance, Apsara dance, Coconut Shell dance, etc. Bac Lieu province also participated in a number of special performances at the opening ceremony.
On the morning of June 11, the delegation will visit some typical tourist attractions in Bac Lieu province, then move to Vinh Long province to continue interacting and serving the audience./.
