On September 25, a conference connecting trade between Quang Tri province's enterprises and Ho Chi Minh City's distribution and export enterprises took place within the framework of the "Week of promoting OCOP products and Quang Tri specialties".
Quang Tri enterprises find their way into large distribution systems
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vo Thai Hiep - Chairman of Quang Tri Province Business Association - said that besides the province's existing advantages, the number of Quang Tri products present in the modern retail system is still limited and not much is exported.
"Enterprises in Quang Tri province need to proactively invest in applying science and technology, improve production capacity, product quality, improve designs, ensure food hygiene and safety, and align with consumer tastes and general market trends," he said.
At the conference, many businesses also said that they have difficulties in finding and expanding markets, emphasizing that Ho Chi Minh City is a potential open market for sustainable brand development.
Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Le Thi Phuong Nhi - Director of Brule Coffee Trading Company Limited - said that specialty products when investing in machinery, standards... often have high prices. Therefore, it will be very difficult for businesses to reach target customer files if they only stop at retail and local.
This enterprise expects to connect B2B with distribution chains and large retailers in Ho Chi Minh City such as Central Retail, Saigon Co.op ,... to expand the market, thereby expanding export potential.
Here, more than 100 types of products from more than 20 enterprises and cooperatives from Quang Tri province with many outstanding specialties, including Khe Sanh coffee and OCOP products originating from medicinal herbs were displayed. Many enterprises have since then also approached many retail customers at home and abroad.
Regional linkages to expand export opportunities
Mr. Tran Phu Lu - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) - affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City, after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, continues to be the largest market in the country, contributing about 25% of GDP.
"Ho Chi Minh City is always proactive in cooperating and linking regions to promote the potential and strengths of the Northern and North Central localities, including Quang Tri, to expand development space and move towards sustainable goals," he said.
Accordingly, the potential for cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Tri province is still very large, especially in the fields of trade, investment and tourism. In the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Tri will continue to strengthen coordination in organizing activities to connect supply and demand, promote trade and investment, contributing to supporting product consumption, while attracting investment resources to key projects, promoting socio-economic development.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Tri province - also said that the conference is an opportunity to support businesses in finding partners and promoting local product brands to retail corporations, supermarkets and e-commerce platforms in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the conference, many memorandums of understanding on business cooperation between manufacturing enterprises and distributors were signed. Accordingly, distributors in Ho Chi Minh City highly appreciated the potential of Quang Tri products, but also emphasized the need to standardize packaging, trace origin and comply with international regulations to be able to enter the large-scale distribution system.
