Academic exchange lecturers linked to community research
The University of Education - a member of the University of Danang, announced that the school has just had two more staff and lecturers, Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Dang Mau, Head of the Department of Biology - Environment and Dr. Bui Thi Thanh Dieu, Head of the Department of Psychology, Faculty ofEducational Psychology, participating in the Academic Exchange Program, giving lectures at leading universities in the United States.
This activity is one of the contents of the Project for Collaborative Innovation in Higher Education (PHER), between Vietnam and US partners, in which Danang University is one of the three leading universities in Vietnam (along with Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University) qualified and selected to participate.
It is known that Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Dang Mau has chaired the research on Spirulina production technology, which is currently being applied and transferred to contribute to the development of the local economy in Van Tuong City, Quang Ngai Province. With this Scholar Exchange Program, Mr. Trinh Dang Mau participated in the research on rotifers at the Marine Biology Laboratory, University of Chicago.
The research aims to apply advanced methods such as machine learning with modern equipment to focus on studying and analyzing zooplankton, thereby developing algae ecosystems and preventing microplastic pollution. Young scientists from the University of Danang cooperate with experts from partners to propose a Biological Early Warning System to support monitoring of aquatic ecosystems.
“Rotifers in freshwater ecosystems are an understudied area in Southeast Asia. Therefore, through the research process, exploring the diversity and biological role of zooplankton, I hope to bring useful results, contributing to the requirements of environmental protection in aquaculture, serving sustainable development” - Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Dang Mau shared.
Dr. Bui Thi Thanh Dieu participated in the Visiting Scholar Program at Texas State University in the field of social sciences and humanities, with research assessing mental health status and help-seeking behavior of students, thereby proposing solutions to provide professional assistance and solve mental health problems.
Workshops, conferences, and academic exchanges at the University of Texas help Dr. Bui Thi Thanh Dieu have more opportunities to conduct research, publish international scientific publications (WoS/Scopus) and experience and connect with international academic networks interested in current issues in school education. The doctor hopes that the results achieved will contribute to promoting the formation of a system to support mental health improvement in Vietnam in the near future.
