On May 1, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) announced that, surpassing more than 330 candidates worldwide, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics has become one of four global universities operating SDG 11 Hub (Sustainable Development Goal: Sustainable Cities and Communities) under the United Nations Academic Network (UNAI) for the 2025-2027 term, as Vice President in charge of Connections and Partnerships.
In its new role, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City will connect and collaborate to promote sustainable cities and communities on a global scale.
This is an important strategic milestone in the journey of internationalization and sustainable development that Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics has been implementing.
The SDG Hub Programme, under the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), is a global initiative initiated by the United Nations to connect highereducation institutions to support and promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through three areas: education; research; outreach and collaboration.
Institutions selected as SDG Hubs are global higher education institutions that are outstanding in advancing the SDGs, with an academic approach that aims to create positive impact across social, economic and environmental domains.
UNAI also emphasizes the interconnectedness of all universities responsible for the 17 SDGs, thereby forming a global academic network for action on sustainable development.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, said that with the motto of "doing real, effective", now, in the role of Vice President in charge of SDG 11 Connection and Cooperation, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics will continue to play a key role in leading global efforts of the global higher education sector in general and pioneering in Vietnam in particular for sustainable action.
“In particular, with a partner network of 500 leading enterprises, more than 240,000 alumni, and more than 200 international partner organizations, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics will be the central unit connecting stakeholders to co-create for a sustainable future,” Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung emphasized.
