On the morning of July 18, the People's Committee of Krong Pak district ( Dak Lak ) held a press conference to announce the 2nd Krong Pak Durian Festival in 2024, taking place from August 31 to September 2.
Previously, in 2022, the People's Committee of Krong Pak district organized the first durian festival and received many encouraging results.
The 2nd Krong Pak durian festival has 12 activities, notably a specialized workshop and a special plan by the locality to invite visitors to experience standard durian gardens.
Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh - Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Krong Pak District - said that this activity started on July 13, taking place earlier than the other 11 events of the festival.
According to Ms. Trinh, the district invites people and tourists to experience standard durian gardens to introduce special products and tourism in the district.
This is also a place to connect supply and demand, exchange information between farmers, traders, businesses, scientists and managers.
Create trading opportunities between growers, producers, processors of fruit products and consumers.
Honoring the economic values of specialty fruits, high quality, potential specialty products, and strengths of the district.
"Organizing fruit gardens for tourists to experience is also a premise for developing agricultural production models combined with eco-tourism, associated with sustainable experiences; contributing to creating more jobs for rural workers, developing a sustainable economy, helping to protect the environment, preserving and promoting cultural features...", Ms. Trinh said.

According to Ms. Trinh, the whole district currently has 7,157 hectares of durian, an increase of 3,359 hectares compared to 2022, with an estimated output of 83,330 tons. By the end of 2023, the whole district will have 902 hectares of durian of 838 households, with an output of 14,956 tons/year, and durian certified to meet VietGAP standards.
In addition, the Intellectual Property Office has granted a certificate for the trademark "Krong Pak Durian" (English: Krong Pak Durian) as a collective trademark, within 10 years from September 21, 2021 and can be renewed.
Dak Lak durian becomes economic strength in rural areas
Dak Lak province currently has 32,785 hectares of durian, of which the pure planting area is 9,556 hectares, accounting for 29.14%, the intercropping area is 23,229 hectares, accounting for 70.85% and the area for product harvesting is 15,852 hectares, accounting for 48.35%.
Durian prices are currently high, from 80,000 - 100,000 VND/kg depending on the type, becoming the main crop and bringing in a large source of income for farmers in this province.
