Overcoming flooded roads
Nearly 2 years ago, due to the lack of a drainage system, every time it rained heavily, DT755B route, in village 2, Duc Lieu commune, Bu Dang district, was flooded. Because many heavy trucks regularly traveled in the direction of Lam Dong - Bu Dang and vice versa, many sections of the road were seriously subsided, making the traffic situation extremely complicated. Local authorities and people continuously reported and requested the relevant agencies to pay attention and repair. The Department of Construction has advised the Provincial People's Committee to approve the list of road maintenance in 2025, including repairing damaged roadbeds and surfaces and adding a drainage system to DT755B route. This is considered a sustainable solution to extend the life of the road surface, ensuring traffic safety on the route.
Route DT755 through village 3, Doan Ket commune, Bu Dang district is being paved with hot asphalt concrete by the contractor.
In mid-May, Ms. Hoang Thi Lai's family and the people of Village 2, Duc Lieu Commune were excited because the drainage system had been built. The drainage ditch was nearly 1 meter wide and about 80 centimeters deep. Ms. Lai said: "The ditch must be this size so that when it rains heavily, the water will drain quickly and not flood into the house. Hopefully, from this year's rainy season, people will not be affected like in previous years."
Witnessing the contractor constructing DT755B, the section passing through Duc Lieu commune, Mr. Do Viet De, Head of Village 2, excitedly said: "The construction of a drainage system plays an important role in helping to widen the road surface, drain water quickly, and overcome the situation of the road surface being soaked with water and sinking."
In village 9, Duc Lieu commune, the road surface of DT755B is narrow, with many curves and steep slopes, making traffic potentially risky and dangerous. Mr. To Manh Cuong, Party Secretary of village 9, said: “For many years, every time we meet with People's Council delegates at all levels, voters have requested the relevant agencies to widen the road surface and find solutions to ensure traffic safety on this route. Now that their wishes have been met, people are very excited. Each side of the road has been widened by 1-2m, making it easier for vehicles to circulate, thereby contributing to reducing traffic accidents.”
The contractor of DT755B route through village 9, Duc Lieu commune, Bu Dang district has widened the roadbed on each side by 1-2m.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Huy, the construction unit, said that the DT755B route under maintenance is 33.3km long. Taking advantage of the sunny weather, the unit organized the construction of many items at the same time. In particular, the repair solution for locally damaged locations such as potholes and elephant holes will be scraping, removing the surface concrete layer, then rolling. The roadbed is reinforced with a 25cm thick layer of crushed stone and 5% cement, then covered with 5cm thick C12.5 asphalt concrete, ensuring high quality and durability. The longitudinal drainage system is built with rubble, with interwoven panels. The entire route will be painted with thermoplastic, reflective paint according to standards.
Accident prevention
Along with DT755B, contractors are currently vigorously implementing construction on a number of provincial roads. In particular, the repair of damaged roadbeds and surfaces and the addition of traffic safety systems on DT759 through Phuoc Tan Commune, Phu Rieng District and Da Kia Commune, Bu Gia Map District have received much attention. Mr. Nguyen Cong Quan, Head of Dong Thap Village, Phuoc Tan Commune, Phu Rieng District, said that the road surface has sunk, creating dangerous deep holes, causing public outrage for many years. In fact, many traffic accidents have occurred, affecting the health and lives of people. In 2024, the People's Committee of Phuoc Tan Commune has repeatedly mobilized local businesses to donate rocks and support motor vehicles to fill dangerous potholes and deep holes; the regular militia force and people living on both sides of the road have coordinated to contribute to road repair. This year, the section through the commune has received major repairs, and people are very excited.
DT759 section through Dong Thap village, Phuoc Tan commune, Phu Rieng district was scraped and compacted by the contractor, then covered with hot asphalt concrete.
Mr. Tran Quang Manh in village 6, Da Kia commune shared: “The DT759 route through the commune has many large trucks and containers passing by. Every time they pass through a severely damaged road, drivers who do not observe carefully or do not steer in time will crash into potholes, deep holes, causing tires to explode or rims to bend. In many cases, to avoid potholes, people drive into the wrong lane, causing accidents. This time, the province paid attention to the repair and it has been completed, people are very excited, hoping that accidents due to potholes will be limited.”
According to the list of maintenance works approved by the Provincial People's Committee, in 2025, the whole province will maintain 12 new works on 15 provincial roads. In addition, there are a number of transitional works. Up to now, the Department has completed the procedures for selecting contractors, directing the winning units to organize the construction with a spirit of urgency, doing it right. Currently, Binh Phuoc as well as the southern provinces are in the rainy season, we direct the specialized agencies under the Department to perform well the inspection and supervision work, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles so that the works can be constructed, ensuring the quality and progress as set out. On the DT755 route from Doan Ket to Thong Nhat communes, Bu Dang district, contractors are also rushing to repair and resurface the severely damaged road surface. Mr. Tran Van Anh, construction commander of the section in villages 3 and 4, Doan Ket commune, Bu Dang district, said: “According to the plan, the project will be implemented in 90 days, from the end of April to the beginning of July 2025, and will be completed according to the contract. However, the current construction volume is about 95%, we have paved hot asphalt concrete, and in a few days we plan to paint the road surface and take measures to ensure traffic safety, then hand over the project to the investor ahead of schedule.”
