Support to improve livelihoods for people in mineral mining areas

Project introduction and implementation workshop.

Tien Hoa Commune (Tuyen Hoa) and Truong Xuan Commune ( Quang Ninh ) are the two communes chosen to implement the project. Regarding the rural environment, through actual surveys, it is shown that both communes are located in areas where construction material minerals are exploited and processed, so they have certain influences and impacts on the production life of local people.

Tien Hoa Commune currently has 7/12 villages affected by mineral exploitation, of which 4 villages are close to the mining area and are affected. Truong Xuan Commune has 5/9 villages affected, of which 3 villages in the mining area and material transportation are affected.

Introduce project content.

Research shows that although localities and businesses have taken restrictive measures, dust pollution caused by mineral exploitation still occurs and affects people's lives and production.

In order to contribute to the socio -economic development of the locality, the Project Management Board of the Center for Rural Research and Development of Quang Binh (a unit under the Provincial Gardening Association) has developed a project with solutions to contribute to improving the livelihoods and lives of people in the mineral exploitation area.

At the workshop, delegates were provided with full information on the project activities through the presentation of the project management board representative. The workshop also listened to 4 reports providing additional information on economic, social, environmental life and proposals from representatives of Tien Hoa and Truong Xuan communes People's Committees and representatives of production units.

Signing of the agreement on cooperation in project implementation.

At the workshop, the Project Management Board and representatives of the People's Committees of Truong Xuan and Tien Hoa communes signed a memorandum of coordination to implement the project.
