Afghan officials said the deputy governor of the northern Badakhshan province was killed in a car bomb attack on June 6.
Provincial Information and Culture Department Director Qari Maazudin Ahmadi confirmed that Deputy Governor Mawlawi Nisar Ahmad Ahamdi and his driver were killed in the incident.
In addition, six civilians were injured.
The bombing occurred at 8:15 a.m. local time as Deputy Governor Ahmad Ahamdi's car passed through the city of Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province.
Mr. Maazudin Ahmadi said that authorities are investigating the incident and will provide details as soon as the results are available./.
