At the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, through ultrasound, doctors discovered that Mr. A. had a liver tumor with a diameter of over 10 cm, and at the same time, cancer indicators (such as PIVKA II and AFP) were also very high. Mr. A. underwent laparoscopic liver resection surgery, with good recovery results.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Bui Huu Hoang, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology - University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, liver cancer is considered the leading "killer" with the number of deaths accounting for 21% of the total number of deaths due to all types of cancer.
"High-risk subjects that need early detection and timely treatment include: People with chronic hepatitis B, C, cirrhosis due to any cause. People with long-term fatty liver, type 2 diabetes, genetic liver disease, Aflatoxin and Dioxin poisoning, heavy smokers... are also at very high risk of liver cancer" - Dr. Hoang warned.
