VHO - Head coach Kim Sang-sik has called up two new players born in 2000 for the upcoming training session of the Vietnamese national team.

The Korean strategist has just announced the list of 23 players of the Vietnamese team to prepare for the match against the Laos team in the second leg of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

Compared to the most recent training session, this time's list includes two new recruits: central defender Khong Minh Gia Bao (Ho Chi Minh City Police Club) and striker Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong (Becamex Ho Chi Minh City Club) - new faces who promise to bring a breath of fresh air to the team.

Striker Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong, born in 2000, is a product of the Becamex Binh Duong (old) training center. Possesses speed, technique and good finishing ability.

In the 2025/26 season, he continued to shine in the Becamex TP.HCM shirt, and was evaluated by experts as "a combination of Anh Duc and Tien Linh" thanks to his versatile ability to play in the attack. Viet Cuong used to play for U16 Vietnam and U23 Vietnam.

In the recent round 10 of V.League 2025/26, Viet Cuong played brilliantly when he scored, contributing greatly to Becamex TP.HCM's 2-1 victory over Hai Phong .

Meanwhile, Khong Minh Gia Bao, also born in 2000, is considered a central defender with good tracking and pressing ability, good physical strength and the ability to flexibly use both feet.

This player grew up at the People's Public Security Club, then played for Phu Dong Ninh Binh before joining Quang Nam Club, then transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Police in August 2025.

Gia Bao used to play for the Vietnam U20 team and is considered one of the young defenders with good form in Vietnamese football.

This training session of the national team coincides with the key training period of the Vietnam U22 team in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, so some outstanding young players who have been present in the national team in previous training sessions will not appear this time.

However, coach Kim Sang-sik still maintains stability in his squad, harmoniously combining experienced pillars and players who are performing well at the club.

In addition, the return of Nguyen Xuan Son is also considered a positive signal for the attack.

According to plan, the Vietnamese team will gather from November 10 in Viet Tri (Phu Tho) and move to Laos on November 15 to prepare for the second leg of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
