Promoting the special friendship among Lao students studying in Vietnam

On May 16 in Thai Nguyen, the Lao Embassy in Vietnam held a conference to review the management of Lao students in the 2024-2025 school year and deploy the plan for the 2025-2026 school year. At the conference, the Embassy requested training institutions to continue to improve teaching quality, strengthen political and ideological education, and promote propaganda about the special Vietnam-Laos friendship among international students.

According to the report of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam presented at the Conference, there are over 10,700 Lao students studying in Vietnam in the 2024-2025 school year, including: PhD students, level 2 experts, level 1 experts, masters, university, college, intermediate, Vietnamese language preparatory and high school students.

Vietnamese universities, academies and training facilities always create favorable conditions for Lao students in their study and living, from dormitories, libraries, laboratories, modern teaching systems to experienced lecturers who are always dedicated to imparting knowledge and skills to bring the best qualityof education to Lao students.

The 2025-2026 school year is the 5th year of implementing the Project "Improving the quality and effectiveness of Vietnam-Laos cooperation in the field of education and human resource development for the period 2021-2030". In order to successfully complete the tasks and plans of this school year, the Lao Embassy in Vietnam recommends that training institutions continue to provide political and ideological education to Lao students through thoroughly understanding the resolutions of the Party, the laws of the two countries as well as the regulations and rules of ministries, branches and schools. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda about the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the new context.

Speaking at the conference, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh highly appreciated the attention and effective support of Vietnamese educational institutions for Lao students studying abroad. She acknowledged the efforts of Lao students and postgraduates in studying, complying with Vietnamese laws and building solidarity with Vietnamese students and international friends. These are practical contributions to the effective implementation of the Agreement on economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological cooperation between the Lao and Vietnamese Governments, as well as the cooperation plan between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos.

The Ambassador expressed his hope that Lao students will seize the valuable opportunities created by the Vietnamese Party and Government, becoming a generation of intellectuals with strong ethics, expertise, and the courage to integrate to contribute to building a developed and prosperous Laos.

At the conference, delegates evaluated the results and shared experiences in teaching and managing Lao students, pointed out the advantages and difficulties and proposed solutions to improve the quality of training Lao students in the coming time.

On this occasion, the Lao Embassy in Vietnam awarded Certificates of Merit to 524 Lao students in Vietnam with excellent academic achievements.
