Nam Xuan Reservoir has been completed, put into use and is awaiting the canal system project. |
Accordingly, the two projects include: Nam Xuan Lake canal system project (Krong No district) and Dak Gang Lake project (Dak Mil district). In which, Nam Xuan Lake canal system project has a total investment of more than 242 billion VND and is expected to lead water from Nam Xuan Lake (completed, put into operation - PV) to irrigate 1,700 hectares of production land and provide domestic water for about 3,000 people in Krong No district.
The Dak Gang Lake project has a total investment of nearly 1,100 billion VND. The project was started in February 2025 to provide irrigation water for nearly 1,900 hectares of agricultural land and domestic water for about 8,000 people in Dak Mil and Cu Jut districts (Dak Nong province).
Currently, investors and contractors are focusing on speeding up the progress of the two projects in the context of many problems related to compensation, site clearance, and counterpart funds from the local budget that have not been resolved.
Specifically, regarding site clearance, although it has been implemented since 2022, to date, the site clearance work for the Nam Xuan Lake canal system has not been completed. Currently, there are still more than 6 hectares of land that have not been handed over to the contractor. According to local authorities, this is due to regulations on support for plants that exceed the density and encroached land.
For the Dak Gang Lake project, it is expected that more than 210 hectares of land will be recovered for construction, but so far only 32 hectares have been compensated and cleared. The reason is due to regulations on support for over-density crops, encroached land, and the fact that Dak Mil district lacks resettlement land for households whose land is subject to recovery for project implementation. Currently, the project is both implementing construction and clearing the site.
According to the Dak Nong Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, the total counterpart capital from the local budget for the two projects is more than 142 billion VND, but currently Dak Nong province has only allocated more than 11 billion VND. The Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee has also sent a document requesting the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to consider allocating additional central budget capital to replace the counterpart capital that cannot be balanced from the locality.

Speaking at the field inspection of the two projects on April 17, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, acknowledged the efforts of Dak Nong province in implementing the two projects. Accelerating the progress and completing the projects early will promptly supplement resources for drought prevention as well as providing domestic water for people in the three northern districts of the province, where drought is becoming increasingly severe due to climate change.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep also noted that Dak Nong needs to speed up compensation and site clearance for the two projects, especially quickly removing obstacles in the mechanism for supporting assets and crops on land to hand over the construction site on schedule and complete the investment capital disbursement plan. At the same time, ensure that people benefit according to the approved plan and roadmap.
