In the literature subject, candidates officially begin the test within 120 minutes, starting at 8am and ending at 10am. According to regulations, candidates can leave the exam room after 2/3 of the test time is completed.
This year's essay consists of 2 parts. Part 1: Reading and understanding literary texts and writing paragraphs; Part 2: Reading and understanding argumentative or informational texts and writing social argumentative essays.

After finishing the literature subject in the 10th grade entrance exam, many students in Ho Chi Minh City left the exam room with a light heart because they had finished the test. The students assessed that the test was not difficult, nor did it have many surprises, and was the type of question that their teachers had reviewed quite thoroughly at school.
However, in the social argumentation question, many candidates expressed that their knowledge was quite "heavy" compared to that of a 9th grader. In this question, if candidates do not have enough understanding, do not read much, lack multi-dimensional thinking and problem solving, and "know how to put their heart" in the other person's shoes, it will not be easy to score points.

Thuy Linh, a candidate at the test site in Thu Duc City, shared that she completed the essay at a fairly good level but did not reach the expected level when she got stuck on the social argument question.
Linh raised the problem, the reality, and personal thoughts, but was quite flustered in the solution part in showing her maturity.
According to Thuy Linh, only students who have the ability in literature, thinking and writing and reading skills can get high scores in this exam.
However, Linh and many of her classmates were quite satisfied with their first exam results, which were within an acceptable level for an entrance exam.
This afternoon, candidates will take the foreign language exam for 90 minutes.

The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City 10th grade entrance exam has more than 76,000 candidates registered. Meanwhile, the total target is more than 70,000 students, the admission rate is about 92%.
If we calculate the number of candidates participating and the quota, there will only be about 6,000 candidates failing this exam, the lowest number in Ho Chi Minh City in many years.
