Proposal to recognize Bich Dam as a destination with potential for community tourism development

Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document assigning the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to research and advise on the recognition of Bich Dam (Vinh Nguyen Ward, Nha Trang City) as a destination with potential for community tourism development as proposed by Nha Trang City People's Committee in Document No. 3593 dated May 9.

According to the results of the field survey, Bich Dam has a diverse terrain, rich natural tourism resources, beautiful landscapes, and retains its wild and fresh features. This area also preserves many intangible cultural values, traditional living habits associated with the sea, creating a unique attraction for tourists. In particular, the local people are mainly long-time residents, knowledgeable about history and culture, and have the ability to directly participate in community tourism development.

However, people's income is still low, mainly based on coastal fishing and small-scale trading; infrastructure and tourism services are underdeveloped. Promoting community tourism here is expected to contribute to improving life, promoting local values, and reducing pressure on natural resource exploitation.

Nha Trang City People's Committee has issued decisions approving the project to develop green and sustainable community tourism in Bich Dam, established the Executive Board and the Tourist Site Management Board, developed operating regulations and a communication plan. The rate of people agreeing to implement this model reached over 94.3%. The locality proposed to include Bich Dam in the planning of potential destinations for community tourism development in the province for the period 2025 - 2030.
