What are the proposed amendments to the Standards for mirrors used in automobiles? - Reader Minh Anh
Many contents will be revised in the standards for mirrors used in cars.
The Ministry of Transport is drafting a Circular promulgating the National Technical Regulation on mirrors for automobiles - revised 01:2023 QCVN 33:2019/BGTVT.
Accordingly, the new Draft has many noteworthy points as follows:
(1) Camera-monitor system (CMS) is a system of equipment used to observe the rear, side or front of the vehicle within the observation range specified in Appendix A of this Regulation by combining camera-monitor defined as follows:
- A camera is a device that records images of the outside world and then converts these images into signals (for example, video signals).
- A monitor is a device that converts signals into images that are displayed in the visible spectrum.
The term Camera-monitor (CMS) in Standard 33:2019/BGTVT is replaced by the term Camera-monitor System (CMS).
(Current QCVN 33:2019/BGTVT stipulates: Camera-monitor (CMS) is a system of equipment used to observe the rear, side or front of the vehicle within the observation range specified in Appendix A of this Regulation by combining the camera-monitor defined as follows:
- A camera is a device that records images of the outside world and then converts these images into signals (for example, video signals).
- A monitor is a device that converts signals into images that are displayed in the visible spectrum.
(2) Mirror type: rearview mirrors are considered to be of the same type if they have the same brand, manufacturer, manufacturing address and there is no difference in the following main technical characteristics:
- The design of the mirror cluster includes the details connecting to the vehicle if any.
- Mirror type, mirror shape, size and radius of curvature of the reflecting surface.
(Current regulations: Mirror type: rearview mirrors are considered to be of the same type if they have the same brand, manufacturer, production line and there is no difference in the following main technical characteristics:
- Dimensions and radius of curvature of the mirror reflecting surface;
- Structure, shape or material of the mirror and parts connected to the vehicle)
(3) Camera-monitor system type: camera-monitor systems are considered to be of the same type if they have the same brand, manufacturer, manufacturing address and there is no difference in the following main technical characteristics:
- The design of the camera-monitor system includes details of connection to the vehicle if any.
- CMS type, field of view, magnification and resolution.
(Current regulations: Camera-monitor type: Camera-monitors are considered to be of the same type if they have the same brand, manufacturer, production line and there is no difference in the following main technical characteristics:
- Structure, design of equipment, details attached to the vehicle body (if appropriate);
- Device type, field of view, magnification and resolution.
(4) A dual-function mirror and CMS system is a type I CMS in which a display complying with this standard is placed behind a semi-transparent mirror complying with this standard. The display is in CMS mode.
(Current regulation: Mirror and dual function system (CMNS) is a type I CMS in which a standardized display is placed behind a standardized semi-transparent mirror. The display is in CMS mode).
