Representatives of My Thuan Project Management Board and Youth Union visited and gave gifts to night shift workers at the XL-06 construction site in Ben Tre City (T. Thao)

Director of My Thuan Project Management Board (PMU) Tran Van Thi said: “The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project is being constructed on schedule and ahead of schedule. On April 30, 2025, the 50th anniversary of national reunification, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will be completed. Currently, workers, engineers of My Thuan PMU, construction units and supervision consultants are working in 3 shifts, 4 shifts, and overtime to focus all resources to ensure the plan. The final preparations for the completion of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge are taking place, as we can see, only the last 5m is left to connect the two banks of Tien Giang and Ben Tre”.

To encourage the spirit of the workers - as the Prime Minister often says "Don't let the workers (workers, engineers) be lonely on the construction sites", the Youth Union of My Thuan Project Management Board organized visits and gave gifts to the workers on the construction sites... - Director of My Thuan Project Management Board Tran Van Thi added.

Night falls quietly on the construction site of the XL-05 package (Km8+281-Km12+900, Ba Lai bridge and Tam Son bridge). On both sides of the road are grapefruit gardens, quiet, sparsely closed houses, the workers of the XL-05 package are still working diligently under the lights and the sound of road rollers.

“During the day, I work from 6:30 a.m. to nearly 5 p.m. In the evening, I work overtime from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. My job is to drive a road roller. I have worked at this construction site for nearly 3 years. Overtime is only temporary, not throughout the year. Recently, we have been working overtime continuously to respond to the emulation campaign “45 days and nights to speed up the construction progress of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)” - Le Thanh Hien - a worker constructing the XL-05 road package shared.

At the XL-06 package, constructing Km12+900 - Km17+604.98 (4.7km), Song Ma bridge, the leaders and the Youth Union of My Thuan Project Management Board kindly visited and encouraged the workers. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chung (unit of Truong Son Construction Corporation) - Commander of the XL-06 package (road section) said: Every day, about 10 construction teams roll, grade crushed stone, spread asphalt... on the construction site in Son Dong commune and Binh Phu commune, Ben Tre city. Although the temperature is hot during the day, combined with the heat of the asphalt reaching up to 140 degrees, the workers still work hard. At night, the workers continue to roll the road surface until 9:00 p.m. to keep up with the schedule, making up for the time spent waiting for the initial clearance...

“The day shift is from 7am to 6pm, the night shift is from 6pm to 2am the next morning. From 2am to 7am, the construction site temporarily stops. At the construction site, workers arrange reasonable rest time, working 4 hours in the morning, 4 hours in the afternoon. The night shift is harder, because the rest time is only 1 hour, so priority is given to workers working the night shift so they can rest a little earlier. Regarding safety, the contractor strictly controls workers' awareness, as well as supports workers with personal protective equipment and means to help them work best and ensure the safest way possible” - Le Thanh Cuong, Trung Chinh Construction and Trading Company Limited - safety supervisor at package XL-02, construction of Rach Mieu 2 cable-stayed main bridge said.

Previously, on March 14, 2025, My Thuan Project Management Board (PMU) held a launching ceremony for the emulation movement "45 days and nights to speed up the construction progress of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Construction Investment Project (DTXD CT) connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)".

At the launching ceremony, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board Tran Van Thi called on contractors: “The construction of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is determined to be extremely necessary and urgent to ensure the increasing transportation demand on National Highway 60, promote the socio-economic development where the project passes through, as well as the region. In the past time, the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Construction Investment Project has strictly implemented the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction to construct in 3 shifts and 4 teams. Up to now, the project progress has achieved encouraging results with more than 80%. In order to demonstrate determination and move towards completing the entire project by September 2, 2025, My Thuan Project Management Board and construction units agreed to organize achievements in 45 days and nights to further accelerate the progress, with a more specific goal of concluding the main bridge of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge on April 30, 2025”.

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, it is expected that the main cable-stayed bridge of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will be completed on April 30, 2025. On June 30, 2025, all 5/5 bridges on the route (Xoai Hot Bridge, My Tho Bridge, Tam Son Bridge, Ba Lai Bridge, Rach Mieu 2 Main Bridge and Song Ma Bridge) will be completed and the approach roads will be basically completed. Strive to complete the entire project on September 2, 2025.
