The show recreates classic vọng cổ works and famous cải lương excerpts associated with the name Viễn Châu, divided into 7 chapters, including: “Sixteen strings of the đàn bầu”; “Immortal vọng cổ songs”; “Who are you?”; “Southern mother”; “Love confessions”; “Hải vọng cổ” and cải lương excerpts.
In the stage space filled with warm yellow light, when the sound of the zither played, the sound of the drum echoed, each beat of the vọng cổ verse seemed to touch the memory. Many audiences were moved when listening to immortal songs such as: "Love of the mat seller", "Green betel leaves", "Vo Dong So - Bach Thu Ha", "Dem tan wharf Ngu", "Giất mình tri an"...
Composer and People's Artist Vien Chau (1924 - 2016) real name is Huynh Tri Ba, from Tra Vinh , also known as famous musician Bay Ba, famous for his talent in playing traditional music and composing traditional music and reformed opera.
As a great name of Vietnamese reformed theater, People's Artist Vien Chau has made very important contributions to the development of reformed theater art, helping the public better understand and love the art of amateur singing and reformed theater, contributing greatly to raising awareness of preserving, conserving and promoting the nation's precious heritage.
With more than half a century of dedication, People's Artist and playwright Vien Chau has left behind thousands of works, contributing to shaping the language of scriptwriting and modern reformed opera poetics.
